Default Slide: Plastic sleeve inside? help needed

Hello, This is my first post here and I need some help. I currently have my M&P 9c slide completely disassembled for a melt-down job and I'm ready to send it in for refinishing. I'm having nothing but trouble with the plastic sleeve inside the slide where the striker rides. On Glocks these simply slide out. I can't get this thing to budge with anything. Time is of the essence here since it's going to take 5-6wks to return from refinishing and I want to get it out ASAP. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
jivem

There is a striker channel liner tool available for Glock pistols. I have been told it will work on M&P's.

You can save some money on the liner tool. As I recall it is basically a 5/16 bolt. Ease the bolt in turning lightly until it catches on the plastic liner then pull it out.

It ruins the liner in most cases but they not expensive.

Default Liner not available..?

S&W just told me the 9/40 liner is Factory only. I have seen liners for the 45 online. Not the same.... Wish I knew a source for the 9/40 liner.

Midway has them. (I know I already told you that in a PM Jim, but figured someone else may be looking for them)

If you're careful and only turn the tool/bolt about half to a full turn you can generally reuse the original liner.

Also, Speed Shooter does have the Striker Channel Liner for non-45s.

I remove the liner using a small straight pick. There is a hole at the forward end of the striker channel that is visible from the underside of the slide. (opposite side than the extractor). If you put the pick into that hole and lever the liner back it comes out easily. Looking at the liner there appears to be a snap type lock that keeps it into the forward position.

Does that solution work for the .45 pistols? I tried to move the liner on my .45 slide but it's not visible in that hole.

Can't say for sure since I don't have a M&P .45 but I can't imagine they would have a different design (but maybe they do). I just looked and the liner is visible in all 4 of my M&P's.

I just tried it and it worked just fine on my Shield. I did have to make a small hook from a piece of coat hanger to get the liner all the way out. Bent the end of a coat hanger sharply and filed the end to make a hook. Then push the liner back slightly with a pic then just insert the coat hanger and hook the end of the liner and pull it out. Putting the liner back was harder than I expected. I had to push it in with a blunt instrument so as to not bend or crease the end edge of the liner.
