I am seriously considering trading my Glock 27 for an M&P 9mm compact. Would you? I am leaning towards the M&P because I think its more gun with more options.

What would you do?

I would keep the 27 and save up for a M&P9c with amo supplies being the way they are ya never know if 40S&W is all you'll find. Besides the cost of a M&P if you shop around arent really that expensive.

Heck ya! I've been carrying the M&P40C for a little over two years now and have been very pleased with it. I shoot it better than the Glock 23 which it replaced and it is only a little bigger than the G27.

I can only imagine that M&P9C would even be easier to shoot since it is a 9mm and the recoil won't be as snappy as the G27 in .40 caliber.

You may have better luck selling your G27 outright rather than trading unless you are willing to put down some money along with the G27.

I've had a 27 but haven't shot a M&P compact. I can tell you, however, that I love the feel of my M&P .45 4inch and never touch my glock 17 or 23.

Someone made a good point about waiting a bit and getting a S&W later. Because no matter what, you can never buy somethign again for what you sold it for. And ya can't have too many guns

But to answer your specific question: Trade that thing....

I have an M&P9C and love it. Its much more comfortable in the grip for both myself and my wife too.

If you like the G27 you might buy the 9c outright and see which one you like better. I tried twice to convince myself I could tolerate the G27, and failed. Later, I bought the 40c and have no issues with it. It's a bit bigger, but much more pleasant and easier to shoot - to say nothing of loading the magazines!

I keep my eyes open for a lightly used 9c at a bargain price, but I do not see a lot of them that could be described as a bargain.

There is nothing wrong with my Glock.

There was little "wrong" with any of the guns I already owned before I bought my umpteenth additional guns.

If you don't want the Glock any more, get rid of it.
If you want the Smith and Wesson, buy it.

Love my Glocks, they always work well and require little if any maintance. I converted from 1911 carry after my son became a LEO and was issued a Glock 22. Looking back and not regreting my last 10 plus Glock purchases but always feel a bit guilty that I am dissing my departed Dad that was an expert 1911 smith... LU Daddy, but?

Well I did it, I traded my Glock 27 generation 2 for this pistol. He says he put about 2 mags through it. I have a SW99 so I traded this compact for my wife, I think the Glock was a little much for her and it was too small for my hands. Now I am in the market for a M&P .40 or .45 for me! Cant wait to take it to the range. Thanks for your help fellas.

My only objection to the G27 was the same as with all >9mm Glocks - the safety dingus on the trigger, which would rub my finger raw in a couple magazines of shooting. The M&P40c, in contrast, feels like it was made for me.

I would think that G27 would have been a handful for your wife. It certainly was for me.

Love that 9c! I will be picking mine up on Wednesday and I can't wait to get out and shoot it. I would recommend the M&P45 for your next purchase. I have one with the 4.5" barrel and it's a tack driver. Not that it's a fair comparison, but I can shoot it much more accurately than my 40VE. If you want to make any M&P an even better gun, consider the Apex Tactical DCAEK.

I'd rather have the M&P over the Glock.

If you cant keep both, id trade it in a heart beat.

I have a S&W compact that has had a trigger job from Dan Burrwell with his back site and new fiber optic front sight . How much should I get out of it for trade ?

I love my Smiths, but I still wouldn't give up my 27 and the 27 is the only Glock I own!

I agree with Tbone. I have a Glock 27 and a M&P 40c, keeping both. So while I have two guns of similar size and caliber, they feel and shoot a bit differently to me.

What's nice about going from 40 caliber to 9mm is that a lot of people shoot better (more accurately) and for longer periods more (comfortably) with the 9mm. For that reason, at the range, I might start out with a 357 or 44 revolver, shoot my S&W BG380 for a few clips, go to a full sized 45 semi auto, to a mid sized 40 and then finish up with a full sized 9mm, both semi auto. If I go the other way around, my groups aren't as tight.

I think if you buy the right guns at good prices and take care of them, you don't really take that much of a beating when it comes to a private party resale. Don't I wish I had bought 4 or 5 Colt Pythons! On the other hand, the dealer always wins when you do a trade in, it seems.

Since you asked: Ditch the Glock!!!

Lousy ergonomics and my 40C shoots better than a Glock 23 or 27 that's been my experience.

Never. Have only traded or sold guns 2 times in my life, regretted both later. Kepp the 27, save for a MPc if you must.

I'm not too fond of my Glock 27 and its tricked out (Trigger Job, Stippled Frame, Fail Zero Slide) So I'd probibly trade. But I am a heavy gun trader, with a mile long list of firearms owned and traded on something new. If I'd kept them all I'd need several gun safes.

The safety dingus on the Glock is just about the same as the two stage trigger mechanism used by Smith & Wesson, it doesn't bother me at all I shoot both about the same but am more pleased with my Smith & Wesson!

Not a trade I would make for three reasons: First is that in my area I can sell a used G27 for more than I can buy a brand new M&P9c online with shipping included. Second is that a used G27 is much easier to resell than a used M&P9c. Third -and this is a personal thing but the main reason why I would not do the trade, is that the trigger on M&Ps is hit or miss but even if you get a good one and despite the fact that the M&P9c feels much better in my hand I can always shoot the G27 better regardless of wether it has a stock of aftermarket trigger. Just my 02 and as usual YMMV...

I'd have to agree with the Houdini. While I don't have a Glock 27, I do have a Glock 17 9mm. The trigger mechanism isn't of any real significance. I had to think twice about it because I don't really even notice it or how it would rub your finger raw.

My biggest complaint is how the gun fits in my hand. To be honest, I only bought the guy because I had to use the model for work and wanted to be more acustom to firing it. Its by far not my favorite pistol, however I have gotten use to it and am now enjoying shooting it.

My favorite is my S&W 1046. But I'm slightly bias to that because it was my first gun purchase and I grew up in the 80's.

There are some good prices at an armory in my area , Not sure what prices in your area, about 450 bucks here. FYI

I like my MP9C better than my G27 but they're both great guns that have never given me a problem after thousands of rounds. I like some of the others can't part with any of my guns. Just buy the MP9C.

I agree...I have only sold 2 guns in my life also and regret both. Keep what you have and buy more.

Sold my G26 and Sig p226. Bought a 3913 Smith, never missed either one!
