Default She is back from the Mothership!

I picked up my Threaded Barrel Kit .45 from FedEx and it looks like Smith has her all squared away.

They fixed the slide binding in the rear, the barrel looks new but it just says adjusted. I had asked about the trigger which was rather gritty and hard, is now smooth as glass and breaks very clean.

They test fired the hell out of it, and used both barrels as they were both clean when it went in, and dirty now.

I did get some goodies back as well. They gave me another Thread Protector, and another Mag.

I know some don't like them but I also asked them if it was possible to add a Thumb safety, and I guess it was cause they did it.

I was all set to take it to the show tomorrow and sell or trade it, in order to get another 9mm M&P to go with my New Pro. Now that I have it back and in hand I don't think I can let it go. I will just have to wait and save for another!

I am very pleased with how well they took care of it.

After this I have no problem supporting Smith & Wesson.

After some closer inspection, they replaced the Slide. It had a small cut or machine imperfection in it right under the ejection port which is now gone.

I am really surprised that they replaced all of that on the thing. The Barrel could have been re-cut and refinished I suppose, but the slide is new.

Nice to hear about the good customer service from S&W. One of the main reasons I bought one for the "just in case factor."

That is pretty darned impressive. Do I understand that they modified the pistol to add the slide safety on a gun that did not originally have one?

They added the Frame Thumb Safety that is on some models. Now all the Threaded Barrel Kit 45s I have seen do not have it, but have the frame plugs instead.

The Pro 9 I have lacks these so I assume it would not be possible on it.

When I called at first and asked they said they would not do it, but I tossed it on my note anyway and it seems the gunsmiths didn't know it wasn't possible.

I will say the people you talk to are not the greatest, but the people behind the curtain sure are.
