Default Dawson Precision Sights

Just got through installing and range testing a set of Dawson Precision sights for the wife's M&P9c. She went with the wide notch fixed, plain black, serrated rear and the green Fiber Optic .100" wide front. They were easy enough to install with a lined vise and nylon / brass drifts with the rear sight locking down with a set screw. The recommended front sight (.180" high) shot to perfect point of aim with PMC 115 gr ball at 15 yds, basically perfect for her intended purposes (IDPA toy). Her serious business guns are all older pre-lock S&W revolvers, 357s or 38 snubs

I live about 45 miles from Dawson Precision so I drove up to Florence, TX from Austin. I spoke to Dave and we set up my full size M&P 9 basically the same way with a .100" 180 tall green Fiber Optic front sight and a 180 tall plain black rear sight with a .145" square notch in the rear. It's great for fast action or a self defense sight picture and for older eyes.

However, since I mainly shoot targets for groups, which I failed to tell Dave, I was all over the place on paper. Last week I replaced that set with .125" up front and .115" rear and got the sight picture that's on my Kimber 1911 45. What a difference on paper. Much more precise. The folks at DP are very helpful!

If you're ever in the area, stop in and see their facility. It's nestled in the Texas Hill country on Dave's ranch, behind his home. Ask for a tour. It's a clean and very neat manufacturing facility with a built in range for testing. It's impressive.
