Still listed on S&W's website. NC State Troopers carry M&P357s as well as NM State Police I think.

Same subject in different thread, I thought I read they were having trouble keeping up with demand for M&P's and the .357 model was going to be made in limited runs since it is the slowest selling. I know I want one, but that is a long list...

Why not just get a M&P40 and get the 357 conversion barrel?

That is what I did. I bought a M&P 40 Pro & added a Storm Lake 357sig barrel. I also bought a 9mm conversion barrel & 9mm mags. They have been as reliable as my oem 40s&w barrel that came with the M&P.

I believe the .357 SIG has been discontinued for all but, well, military & police sales. My dealer said the litttle bunch of them he got in recently would probably be the last, and he is not the type to play games.

Because it costs more money to do it that way.

I like the idea of just changing out the barrel. I have a 40 and later bought a factory 357 barrel from Midway. Cheap too!

Lew Horton did have some Sales samples/Demo guns in stock. Some unfired but they only come with one mag. Had 6 different M&P357s' in stock as of today.

I have though for a long time that manufacturers like S&W and Glock should make just the 40 S&W then offer a 357 Sig "conversion" barrel for them instead of offering it as a separate pistol. I fear that the 357 Sig is destined for the same fate as the 10mm and .41 Magnum - a great caliber than never really caught on.
