Default M&P 45c & Deltapoint

I just range tested my setup and am very happy with the results. I can easily knock down 6 plates at 25 yrds. The 3.5 moa dot is sharp and easy to pick up. I've only run 75 rnds through it today (temp at range was 107) and will try to put a couple hundred through it tomorrow.

Nothing loosened up shooting 230 LRN reloads at about 800 fps. I think I have finally found the solution for my old eyes.

I'd love to see a picture. Did it mount in the sight groove? Is it above the front sight? Any trouble getting it down on target or finding it?

I have a Fastfire, and I can't quite get it where I'd call it a Fastacq sight.

Thanks,
H

Here's a pic. Yes, the DP dovetail base replaces the rear sight and has a single set screw to lock it in place. The DP is then screwed to the dovetail base with two screws. I used Locktite on all screws and let it set up overnight.

With this setup, the dot is above the front sight but if it is milled into the slide the front sight can co-witness. Bowie mills a replacement rear sight into the slide in front of the DP.

At this point I'm not concerned with using the BUIS but am primarily concerned with the DP's ability to withstand the slam-bang of the slide. Once I've satisfied myself I will then consider having it milled into the slide.

Red dot acquisition using a reflex sight is a learned technique. With my present setup, it seems like I have to point the pistol about 5 degrees lower than I would normally do. That's not a problem as I pick the dot up instantly.

Mtnwinds: keep us posted on your use of this sight. Been pondering one for my 45c for use in a HD situation. Be interested where you will be in a couple of thousand rounds.

Will do. I've put about 200 rnds through it so far and it's right on. I'm not kidding about it being right on at 25 yards. The only reason a plate won't fall is if I pull the trigger instead of squeezing!

I used to have to wear glasses that would give me a clear focus on the front sight leaving the rear sight & the target fuzzy. Not anymore! I shoot with both eyes open and use non-prescription sun glasses. Shooting is a lot more enjoyable these days.

This Deltapoint is not a delicate sight. I've dropped mine and it didn't damage it at all, not even a scratch. In spite of some comments on other forums, I don't find the windage & elevation adjustment tedious at all.

I may have 'missed it', but is your M&P 45c also your CCW weapon? If so, how is it working out with your new sight setup? TIA

Yes, the 45c with DP is my daily carry weapon. I use a kydex OWB holster from Personal Security Systems which keeps it 'high & tight'. The addition of the DP does not affect the holster at all nor does it affect concealment of the pistol at all.

I have made it a point to practice at home and will continue to do so. After years of looking for the front sight/rear sight/target it is going to take some adjustment to simplify things and simply shoot the dot.
