Laser failures - Is it just me?
Very unlucky BG380 owner. Pistol fires and functions flawlessly. Laser is a fragile piece of junk. Twice in three months the laser unit has stopped working after coming back from the range. Just got it back from S&W after THREE months with a new unit and here it goes again...belly up laser....not happy with Insight or S&W. Shop owner told me S&W is on break right now.....why can't I just have button problems! That can be fixed with the BIC pen solution.
What really makes me mad is the pistol is very nice for a small .380 but the wife has no carry gun while it's at S&W. I think S&W owes me an expedited quick turn around this time.

If it's just a laser malfunction, there's no need to send the entire gun in. Just send in the laser and a note, and S&W will replace it. They will even send you a pre-paid shipping label if you'd like. Call them at 1-800-331-0852.

My laser has now failed on me. Owned it for 3 months, it is my daily carry and I have put 250-270rds down range on it. I have already replaced the batteries and it is still dead. Button fix has been done already. Very disappointed in it as I also own a MP 15-22 and have been very happy with it and am looking at a full size M&P .40...but if the BG380 is an indication of quality on the semi auto handguns...I will be selling the BG380 and getting a Sig P238 and looking at a 4th Gen Glock 22

That's what happens with 'off brand' lasers. I have 3 pair of Crimson Trace, including my daily carry Airweight. I have N-E-V-E-R had a single problem with C.T. lasers. Smith tried to save a few bucks and they got EXACTLY what they paid for.

I called the warranty department over my lunch hour and they are sending a call tag for the laser. I understand this is a problem with the BG380, but if they rectify the situation then I will stick by them. I honestly hope this takes care of it as the pistol has been trouble free otherwise.

If they are carry guns, why trust your life and safety to something second rate and bought on low bid ?
Dump them and get Crimson Trace for good robust quality.

plus why would you want to have a laser that you have to turn on first. is the bad guy gonna wait for that? crimson trace pressure activated laser is a far better design.

Actually with my bigger hands I can activate the laser when pulling the sidearm from my holster and have it lined up very easily. All I can say is practice makes perfect on that. And I dry practiced for about 20 minutes a day for a month.
