I just got a M&P 40C and realy like the feel, the size for carrying, and the accuracy. Most impressive. I did have the trigger changed out to an Apex carry model. Lighter pull and a lot less takeup.

Ive been carrying the M&P9C for 2 years now as my off duty absolutely love it. I also had the apex trigger job done. All around great carry gun. have had no issues with it 1600 rounds through it, not a single problem.

I have the M&P9c and installed the Apex USB only. That really smoothed out the trigger but didn't lower the pull weight as far as I can tell. I'm very happy with it. I have a M&P9fs also but use it for IDPA not carry so I installed the Apex hard sear with the USB and it's great.

The M&P9c is a great choice, it is accurate, reliable and very comfortable to most people. S&W did well with their compact models and I actually prefer them to the full size versions.

I haven't yet purchased a M&P. I've been kind of a Glock guy.
My question is:
Why does everyone who buys the Smith have to go out and spend another hundred on an Apex trigger to make it run better?
Glock stock triggers do very well with nothing more than smoothing a few internal trigger bar and connector parts.
I have included a target I shot on Wednesday of this week with my 1988 long-slide Glock model 17L...completely stock other than front sight.

I would appreciate your flames, comments, answers.

Default S & W M&P C

I have had an M & P C in 9 MM for about 2 years now. Its a great gun, I have fired over 900 rounds thru it with absolutely no problems. Mine is a Std factory with no modifications. Its too big for warm weather off duty carry.

Beats me.
I don't plan on apexing mine. I think part of it is people like to tinker and hear people rave about the apex trigger. Its not like Glock doesn't have a huge aftermarket that Glock owners are supporting.

I love my M&P 9 pro as it is. I plan on getting a M&P9c for warmer weather carry at tax return time and I'll leave it stock, other than maybe night sights if I buy one without them.

Carrying my 4003 now.

Why does Glock advertise their gun will shoot under water? Any gun will shoot under water! And,how many people or targets will one shoot under water any way? Glocks ploy to sell guns that way is like a submarine with a screen door; IT'S USELESS!!!!!!!!

I picked up an M&P 9c yesterday along with a galco king tuk, which is super comfy (yeah, it's a rip off of a cross breed, I know. But it was available). The guy at the shop told me about the Apex kits but I told him I'd put 500 rounds through it and then think about it.
I only put 50 through it today before my hands got too cold (forgot my gloves and I went to an outdoor range).
The trigger feels a little rough but not like anything I can't smooth out with time, sandpaper, and needle file. In fact, I just downloaded a pdf of what to polish to smooth it up without going too light. I'll look at that again when I've got a couple hundred rounds through it.
The only upgrade I see myself purchasing for it is night sights.

Exclamation

You guys must have small hands that own a M&Pc. I rented a M&P 9c today at the range. I have large hands and it felt very uncomfortable to hold and shoot. I shot my friends M&P9,4.25" barrel, and it felt so much better. If I did not have so many other money related things on my list,i'de buy one! But,that will have to wait too, until I buy my 5906 and/or SD9 first.

Bought a 9c last month. Got the version with AMBI thumb safety and illuminated sights distributed by Lipsey SM151118. Trigger was HEAVY (9+ lb). Performed the trigger job from the Burwell web site. Trigger now is 4 lb. $500 otd.

Pistol seems to like 124 gr more than 147 gr. Have run WWB and a bunch of reloads (Hornady XTP, Bayou Bullets coated lead. No feeding problems.

Comfortable, concealable and with the trigger job shoots combat drills well.

A good alternative to my 1911.

In defense of my changing my M&P40C trigger to an Apex is simple, I like the M&P but don't like the hinged trigger. The Apex trigger has a lighter pull and less creep. I owned Glocks many years ago and shot a Model 22 and a 24 in USPSA matches and they are fine guns but I didn't like the grip angle. I also had an after market trigger on the "24" because it was a lighter pull. It boils down to the reason they have horse races is that people like different horses.

I couldn't believe how smooth and light my M&P9C trigger was right out of the box. My dad was equally impressed at it and couldn't believe how well it shot, and he's a revolver guy. I couldn't imagine needing anything done on this trigger.

Had an M&P 9c and liked it alot. However, I decided that I could conceal an even bigger gun on my belt. So I traded to a full sized M&P9mm.

I picked up a 9c that had the Apex thing done by the previous owner. It shoots better than my Glock and better than most 1911s I've handled.

As you probably have heard many times, it doesn't matter if it is a Glock, S&W, Ruger or whatever...as long as it is comfortable in YOUR hand and YOU shoot it well, it will be a great gun for you. I had the same dilemma a while back while I was shopping for my first semi-auto that I planned to carry. As usual, it broke down to the XD compact, G26/27 and the MP9c for me. I shot all of them well, but the MP9c felt like a dream in my hand and I had the most confidence while shredding paper with it...done deal. But you never know until you try em' all!

I'm probably not an experienced enough shooter to speak to trigger feel...is it as awesome as some of the 1911's I've shot? Nope...but for a defensive/combat gun it runs just as good as any to me out of the box. And it's WAY better than any pocket semi I've tried. Personal preference I guess....
