I think the Redi-Lok systen is far superior to the blackhawk system. You can do a internet search on certain issues that the Blackhawk design has, such as the plainly visible release button and the possibility that gravel or dirt can block the finger button mechanism. I like the thumb control better than the trigger finger control in general. Another holster to consider is the Safariland ALS paddle or belt holster. It also uses a thumb control.

I've been carrying my full size 9mm for a couple of days in an inexpensive Remora knock off. I decided to try this route to explore the viability of IWB carry of this weapon without expensive trial-n-error of dedicated IWB holsters. It is very comfortable, and I will probably carry in this manner without much trouble until summer. I am happy with the carry situation, so will probably look into a Galco, Desantis or comparable rig for a more permanant solution soon. I, like several posters on this issue, am a big fella, so this probably makes it easier

I used to carry a Beretta 92FS a S&W 645 and a G21 concealed, not perfectly, but well enough that only a trained eye would see them. I have a figure like Santa Clause, so I'm not really 'built' for CC, but if I can carry those cannons concealed, the a FS M&P shouldn't be a problem for you.

I carry the full size M&P 9mm every day, and I love it! Ive been carrying inside the waist band, and have had no problems what so ever. Ive carried smaller pistols, and even snubby revolvers before and I still enjoy carrying the full size the best.

I don't have a M&P FS, only an SD9. When I carry it, I use a Tauga OWB. I do carry my M&P 9C IWB in a Don Hume holster, sometimes. For all day, every day carry my hands down winner is a Shield 9 in a ETW Holsters IWB. I usually forget it's there.

It isn't just a question of conceal ability, but weight, too. I was concealing my 92FS fine, but I got sick of 3 pounds of steal in my pants.

I know the feeling of having your pants being weighted down by a hand cannon And even considering my G21 is mostly polymer, it's an awfully heavy, bulky gun. My 9c is just about perfect, the magazines are only 1 round short of a G21 and it's very light compared to most double stack guns I've owned.

I carry a mp40c but I have a friend that Carries a FS 45 and he carries OWB. He uses a raven phantom. With just a lose fitting t shirt or jacket you can't even tell its there.

I carry a FS M&P .40 in a simple Barsony leather holster IWB, no problem, with just a tee shirt untucked. I'm looking into either a Crossbreed Supertuck or a WhiteHat holster for the future, but the Barsony rides pretty low so the grip doesn't stick out much at all for me.

I have the Full size M&P 9 and 40 (kinda). I had the grip chopped to accept the 10 round mag for the 40 and the 12 round mag for the 9mm. So basicaslly I have the 9c and 40c grip with the FS 9 and 40 frame. This allows me to have the longer barrel, sight radius, recoil management etc etc. All the benefits of a full size gun with the compactness of a compact M&P. AND i can still use the 17/15 round mags. My EDC lately has been my chopped 9 with the 12 round mag and a spare 17 round mag on the hip, Thats 30 rounds of 9mm (GDHP or HST are my favorite rounds)
Lets face it, the hardest thing to conceal on a pistol is the grip. If you carry IWB it dosen't really matter how long the barrel is, because its covered by the pants. What prints the most is the grip. Lou @ business end customs does great chop job's check out his website.
That is all carry on

Full size .40 in a Don Hume 721 OT (pancake) holster or a Galco Triton IWB. I'm 5'11" @ 165#. No problem.
