Proud new owner of M&P9c!!!
Hi all,
New member here and owner of a M&P9c. Just picked it up today. Already stripped and cleaned and ready to go when I go to the range for the first time. I bought the version that has no safeties whatsoever. This is only my second semi-auto pistol I have owned. My other pistol is a Ruger SR9c so going from that with all the safeties to this M&P will be quite a change. My thinking is now that we have CCW law here in Wisconsin, when I am carrying I wanted a pistol that I know will go bang when I pull the trigger if I ever have to use it. With the M&P, no worrying about having a thumb safety on or having an unseeded mag that disarms the pistol like the SR9c does. Anyone had issues with either 124g +P Rem. Golden Saber or 124g +P Speer Gold Dot with your M&P9? I am deciding between those two for self defense ammo. Appreciate any info. Merry Christmas all.

Congrats on the new 9C. Just picked one up last last weekend so I know the feeling. Can't advise on that particular ammo but I'm thinking that +P stuff might be a bit too much boom for comfort in a compact gun.
Good luck with the gun and be safe.

I use the Speer in my 9c when I carry it and while it does hit noticeably harder than the WWB I use at the range, it is not a problem to shoot. For me personally, I prefer to use the extended floor plates on the mags as well. They just give me a little something more to hold on to. I don't know how you plan on carrying, but I would recommend a Crossbreed Super Tuck or a Galco King Tuk holster. They are the most comfortable designs I have found.

Good choice Soleshtr! Mine rides in a Desantis speed scabbard and is packed with Speer GDHP 124 +P. Suggest you look into the APEX dcaek if you want to make the gun even better. Then there's night sights-
Good luck and enjoy!

My 9c gobbles up Speer Gold Dots like nothing.
I buy my range ammo from tacticalammo by the case of 1000 (comes in a nice army ammo can) for cheap, I think they just posted a special price on facebook of $119/1000, and it runs that stuff like a sewing machine.
I carry mine in a Crossbreed Supertuck knock-off. I just ordered a REAL belt from Beltman.
If you want to carry +P, +P+, +++P++++ or whatever, I would run 50 to 100 rounds of the stuff through the gun to be sure it worked, and then not worry about it. In an incident you won't notice the recoil, and won't really care. But I wouldn't run +P+ in it all the time. Maybe it would be okay but there's a reason they label it +P+, because it exceeds tested limits. A good +P ammo I would shoot all day if that's what you like or what you can get cheap.
The XGrip looks like a pretty sweet accessory if you want a longer grip for the range. I don't have any because if I want a longer M&P I have other M&P's. They get lonely by themselves so it's best to get them some companions....

Well I don't think +P+ will be necessary. I would say 400 ft/lbs of +P will give most BGs a pretty bad day. I have been looking around for 17 round mags and the X-Grip adapter. Having full size mags is nice for the range when I shoot my SR9c. It would be nice to have the same with the M&P.

If you want to remove the SR9C's magazine safety, there's a great video on youtube. It takes less than 5 minutes from start to finish to remove it.

I know you can remove the mag safety but I decided against it. Massad Ayoob strongly advises to never modify the trigger or any safeties on a carry weapon. If you ever have to shoot someone, it will be used against you by anti-gun DA or trial lawyer. I will take Massad's word for it. He knows his stuff. He is hired as an expert witness in trials dealing with the use of deadly force.

Is he?
You're kind of new here, but did you know Massad stops by every now and then? I don't know when he finds the time.... Look at his training schedule and then look at all he teaches besides, then he writes books, has a family.... I think he's one of those Oprah types who only sleep 2 hours a day...
