Default m&p 9, different trigger pull for compliant vs. non compliant states?

Title says it all, I was wondering if the stock trigger pull is different for say MA vs. NH? Thanks.

The onlg M&P's S&W lists as "compliant" are MA. and CA.
CA. is Mag-safe requirement.
MA. is Trigger pull requirement (10 Lb)

All others are listed at 6.5 Lb. (edit... got confused between S&W out of box, and after APEX kit. Sorry)

I have heard people say there are others, but have seen no indication in writing.

Default depends on the specific model

If you look at the S&W Catalog page 15 (available on their website) it shows the various model confirgurations and the associated stock numbers. 209301 is the standard model with with a 17 round mag, 6.5 lb pull, no mag safety and no external thumb safety. There are a number of compliant versions some of which have the standard trigger and some of which have 10 lb pulls.

For example 109201 has the standard 6.5 lb pull but is limited to a 10 round mag and is CA compliant. 109251 has the 10 round mag, 10 lb pull and a magazine safety and is MA compliant. 109351 has the 10 round mag, 10 lb pull and no magazine safety and is also MA compliant.

thanks. i am having problems shooting low, and i think it is because i am pulling the gun down when pulling the trigger. I am not using the first pad, but putting my finger thru and using second pad. I have a 10lb trigger. Was considering lighter trigger to see what that would do.

others suggested that i am anticipating, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.

You should get a trigger job or look into apex trigger parts. I put just the apex sear in my 9c and it brought the pull down to 7lbs. Simple job and only cost $50. It makes a big difference.

jbinbi, First, use the first pad of your finger. Second, note the location of your shots. Are they all going to a particular area of the target? Are you shooting all over the target and not grouping well? Learn to shoot the gun before making the trigger lighter. A lighter trigger will only make things worse if you haven't mastered shooting the gun. When all that is done then let me know what part of Massachusetts you are in (if you are indeed in Mass) I do trigger work on M&P's in Mass.

i had the same problem, and it wasnt the pull weight because i had the standard 6.5 lbs, but it was the over travel that did it.
I have a firm grip because i work with my hands, so my trigger pull is strong. This caused the trigger to slam down after the release and hit low.. I grouped well, but low. The Apex kit fixed it.

The correct term is Occupied States, not "compliant states!"

Either defect noted above is easily corrected in a few minutes.

Thanks. I know I am getting a good sight pic, I have sig mosquito and have pretty good grouping in the rings. So also assuming my grip is ok.

I have dry fired s&w 9 with snap caps quite a bit, trying to practice pull. I have pretty good grouping low, when i put a second target right below 1st one, looking ok , but everything is about 6-12" low from only 20'!

I am about 20 mi directly north of boston.
