How to prevent mixing up 40c and 9c mags/cartridges?
I have the 9c. I am pretty certain that my next gun will be the 40c. I know I am careful, but with range time with the wife and kids, I wonder if it's possible to inadvertently mix up ammo/mags such that an accident could occur.
Is it just a matter of being extra cautious to ensure people load the mags with the correct cartridges, or maybe you color code mags for one of the weapons, etc? Dunno, just asking.
Thanks...

Color coding is the best choice just a little nail polish will do the trick if you look at my signature I have 4 9mm and all use different mags even my M&Ps but I just have a 9 and 40 caliber compact but my Glock 26 with numerous mags makes a problem, so I understand you situation!

Im not sure it would lead to an accident anyway.
The .40 won't feed in a 9mm chamber, and if a 9mm went into a .40 and actually went off, it would just bulge the case and possibly fail to extract.
I've actually had that happen with a .45 that I inadvertently put a .40 round into.
The whole episode was a total non event.

I got rid of my (3) .40 S&W Glock’s and went all 9mm and 45 acp.
Even if you don’t mix mags and ammo, sorting 9mm and 45acp brass for reloading is a lot easier without the 40’s.
I’m trying to thin the caliber herd anyway though.

I paint a red 9 or 40 on the bottom of the mag with acrylic model paint.

May not be a safety problem, but is a pain to have mags that look alike get mixed up together (e.g., 9mm and .40).
I tried paint dots (from car touch up paint) on the bottom of the magazines, but they flaked off easily. Afraid to use tape on the metal body, and doubt it would stick on the plastic baseplate.
I settled on using 10-8 magazine baseplates on my 9mm, and regular S&W baseplates on my .40 (I also use the .40 magazines in my 40c).
I have seen orange baseplates for sale, and there should be tan ones (for the flat dark earth pistols) somewhere in the system, if S&W sells them separately. Would like to see someone offer baseplates with either designs or markings on them (also useful at ranges, and for completitions, when mags are dropped and can get mixed). Would also like to see options for the striker cover plate (on the back of the slide) like those that are pretty popular with Glocks...

Fingernail polish used here, followed by NON acetone nail polish remover to clean up the excess. I'll be doing the mag. bodies to match the bottoms.
