Ammo issues with MP22 with 36grain ammo?
Anyone having issues with 36 grain ammo in the M&P22? I was using the Federal 550 pack from wallyworld and it didnt seem like the pistol was discharging the spent casings, and recocking after discharge.
Anyone else having similar problems? I was thinking about getting some 40grain to see how that does, but figured I'd poll the pros for thoughts.

I was having the same problem. I had about 20 FTE/FTFs in the first 300 Federals.
I noticed on the ramp on my M&P22 had two small black spots - one on each side. I tried cleaning it off with solvent but that didn't work. I used my Dremel tool with a soft polishing wheel and some polishing compound to buff out the spots.
I think it was some bluing since the spots were there when new. With the spots removed I have fired the remainder of the 550 box without any issues. So in my case, I believe it was the ramp that was the problem.
Check yours and if it is the least bit dirty, polish it.

I have fired several mags of 36gr "550" pack federal from my mp22 with several FTEs. Sometimes I could get through a mag with no malfunctions, sometimes not. However, using 36gr CCI mini-mags I had no malfunctions at all.
Also, I too have noticed two small black spots on the feed ramp while cleaning. Its not carbon, as it would not clean off with solvent. A polishing may be in order with mine as well.

I put 400 rounds of CCI mini mags through mine before I tried the Federal. Even with the spots on the ramp the CCI did not have any problems. I was shooting the 40gr CCI however.
Polish the ramp and let me know the results.

I've only put about 100 rds through mine. The first half were CCI Mini-mags, then the 550 pack Federals from Wallyworld. Mine ran perfectly with both. I just need to get a few more mags.

So, I'll be honest I'm a total gun noob, and don't know where the ramp is =( I have given the firearm and magazine a good once over and didn't notice anything that looked out of the ordinary while giving it a through cleaning.

The ramp is located at the rear of the chamber which is part of the barrel. On the 22 is is fairly small compared to larger calibers.
It is the only part that has a polished silver look to it after it has been cleaned. It is shaped so that the contour of the point of the bullet will slide over it and into the chamber.
I wish I could post a picture but am unable to at this time.

That's it! And if I'm not mistaken, it looks like that one has a dark spot on the left side.

I don't see how spots on a feed ramp would affect ejecting at all. I've noticed using federal 550 that after the gun gets dirty, mine will push the slide back far enough to eject but not far enough to strip the next round off. It's been 100% with round nose mini mags. Even after its dirty enough to not run well with federal it's still been 100% with the mini mags

I was getting mostly feed failures. Once or twice a stovepipe, but always a feed failure.
I believe that the Federal hollow points are more susceptible to failure because of slight inconsistencies in the rounding of the point. At least the ones I looked at while loading the magazines showed a lesser quality than the CCI. Just my opinion.
Since I removed what I consider to be bluing from the ramp, I have shot 900 rds of Federal without a single failure of any kind. The Federals I shot consisted of the 550 bulk from Walmart and 525 champion bulk.
I believe that the spots I removed were just enough to cause the failures. Each time I have been at the range, I have put through at least 230 rds without doing any cleaning of the ramp. I don't think carbon, at least not that from a couple hundred rounds, is enough to cause the failures.

Ammo issues
When mine was new I couldn't shoot those, however after 400 rounds of CCI Mini's it will now shoot anything I throw in it. It just needed to be broken it.
