Truglo TFO

Works great in daylight to dark. I have them on my M&P 40.

Good luck which ever way you go.

TruGlo TFOs--green, front and back. I have Trijicons too and they're very nice, but given a choice, it's TruGlos. Had different color combos, but tests have shown that the green color spectrum is the easiest color for the human eye to quickly pick up on and I believe them.

Any one know which set TruGlo's fits the M&P45? I'm also looking for night sights and they only list the SD9/40 on their chart.
Never mind, reading is fundamental.

I have the Ameriglow I dot pro on all my carry guns. The tubes are made by Trijicon as they make most all the tritium tubes for various manufacturers of sights.

THANKS guys.

Does everyone go with the green for front and rear as Rangel recommends?

What about the TFO vs. Tritium?

Used the TFO and thought they were too bright for night use myself. Here is the sights I use now. I have used the Xs Big Dots but the rear V is not real good for more precise work. The I dot pro is really a nice set of sights. My son uses the 3 dot version, I prefer the 2 dot.

I put a set of Truglo Tritium on my M&P40 and I like them. I don't see much difference between them and S&W factory night sights. Amazon has them for $63.

TFO stands for Tritium Fiber Optic.
It has both Tritium for night use, and fiber optic for daylight / lowlight situation. Best of all worlds as far as I am concerned.

As to color...
Everyone has different needs and preferances.
As others have stated, GREEN is the brightest and the human eye picks it up best. That said, I use GREEN on the front and YELLOW on the rear. The yellows are just SLIGHTLY dimmer than the green but provide an obvious differance that allows me a very quick way to pick up and center the front sight in dark / low light situations. Just my personal preferance.

Everyone's different and if possible, try and get a look at multiple setups, although I know it's hard to find several different combos at most gun shops.

That said, I have all green TruGlo TFOs front and rear and also a gun with green TruGlo TFO's up front & yellow ones in the rear and I very much prefer all green. The yellow seem washed out in comparison to the green. I just find it a lot easier to make sure I have my three bright green dots in a row and go 'bang' than I can acquire a visual 'bead' with green and yellow dots together before shooting.

It takes my eyes (really the eyes & brain) just a little longer to pick up the yellow and sort out the contrast difference between the yellow and green and then line them up. I work in the field of visual impairments and deal with different color vision scenarios and contrast issues everyday. The difference in contrast between TruGlo's green and yellow isn't that great to me.

What a lot of guys here have said about age being a factor is very true--I think all green's best for most folks, but once you're over age 50 or so, it often becomes much more noticable. I have two very independent minded teenagers and they both prefer all green TFO's.

The Trijicons I also have, with a reddish--orange dot with a green dot in it's center up front and then a square, black cutout rear sight, (Like Glock, but all black) with a green dot you can really only see at night imbedded in the bottom of it's square rear, works quite well too. During the day, your sighting the front's bright redish orange dot up front, against the rear black cutout (very high contrast there) and at night, the two green dots are visible and you place one on top of the other and shoot. Very, very similar to what Mudcat has pictured above--I like that set up.

It's not like the TFO's green is bright to the point of distraction or that they're bright enough to 'give away' your position in a likely critical defense situation--although my tactical light and lasers (when used) could do that. The way I see it, the person/s on the 'wrong end of business' in a critical defense situation aren't going to be able to even tell if I'm using TFO's in a dark environment, but I'll sure be able to tell!

I like the factory nights on my M&P 45. Just got an M&P 357 that came with Trijicons. They are also good. The sight picture is similar with both. Both shoot very well....

I have Trijicon Night Sights on my M&P. Amazon had them for $112. My next set of Night Sights for my 45c will not be Trijicons... think I'll got with TruGlo Tritium or TruGlo TFO. I cannot justify the higher cost of the Trijicons.

Truglo TFO on two guns are very good. I especially like the fiber optics in daytime but recommend different colors for front vs rear. Mine are all green and can lead to confusion in a hurry up situation in the dark.

I bought a M&P with XS Big Dots a couple of months ago and was so impressed I installed a 2nd set on my 9mm/c yesterday.
Cannot get a tritium rear for M&P but Big Dots definitely are the best for these tired old eyes. Easy installation too.

These align much more quickly than three dot and for me are every bit as accurate. Then again I shoot equally poorly with anything.

Had the TFO's they were nice but the trijicon HD's are the best. No distraction. I sometimes found that the TFO's front to rear were too bright and the same color made it worse. The HD's act like very good target sights as you really dont see the vials in the rear sight-just the huge front. Night sight wise typical trijicon. From what I have read the TFO's can be a little fragile while the HD's are built like tanks. I can rack the slide on a table from the rear sight. It was designed to do it and be that tough. For target plinking the TFO's should serve you well. For CC or HD I'd go with the HD's.

Default CC night sight recommendation?

Gentlemen,
Have my first pistol, an M&P .45, arriving shortly. Reading multiple Trijicon recommendations. What about night sights for concealed carry application? Looking for a design that will slip easily in/out of holster. Thanks.

Love Trijicon HD on my XDm - with my aging eyes I can shoot with or w/o glasses pretty good - great, unobstructed target acquisition. If I would find the same ones for my M&P 9L CORE (co-witness version)- I would get it immediately.
