Default M&P single stack

Anyone attend SHOT and receive any type of feedback why Smith did not release a single stack? Seen on other forums about the infamous trademark for the "M&P backup." Smith has also been reported to be saying they have a big announcement in a couple of months.

For all we know, this could be a new type of .38 revolver and not the single stack the Smith fans have been waiting for.

On their Facebook page, one of the Smith reps replied to a similar post "If I had a dollar every time I read this request."

So, does anyone have credible info on what direction Smith is moving and why they screwed the pooch and not release the product we've been waiting for?

Why do people want a single stack? A reduction in width?

Have you heard of the XDS? Its a small, 6 shot single stack .45 based on the XD and the XDM.

People with small hands such as myself sometimes prefer the thinner grip.

5+1 rounds with that massive, tall XD-style slide. What a joke.

Not really a fan of the XD or XDm... just didn't fit me well when I fired a friends. Do not like the LC9 trigger at all. The Kel-Tec just doesn't feel like a gun. Have never handled a Kahr.

My winter carry is a SW99 40c. For summer carry, I have a BG380... after break-in (and some graphite powder rub over polished areas), the trigger is clean and crisp.

Have shot and wore a PPS (which I absolutely love) but was just hoping for a BG9 or sub-compact during the summer months. I absolutely love Smith's customer service. They have outperformed every other manufacturer I have dealt with (Ruger, Springfield, Kel-Tec, Taurus, etc). Granted, Smith has never been an issue when needing service for a Walther regardless of how long I've owned it.

So, the PPS is still on short list, but before I drop $450+ on it, I wanted to see if anyone knew if something is still planned on the pipeline. Unfortunately, I am only "allowed" to buy one new toy a year... so I need to make it count.

And before brought up... the Glock's just feel too boxy in my small hands... even the 26. But then, they will probably never release a single stack regardless of what their customer base wants though.

Okay, that made me chuckle. Thanks, I needed that this morning.

Nothing new that I've heard from anyone, BTW. S&W has been getting better about keeping their R&D projects under wraps, though.

It would be nice if they came out with something that replaced their single column Chiefs Special series.

I've been wondering when a diminutive 'major defensive caliber' pistol would surface in their M&P or Bodyguard line, myself ...

You mean like the single-stack G36?

No... the "Baby Glock" 26... 9mm. It's still a double stack but the boxy feeling just doesn't feel right in my hands.

Have held the 36 and it is definately slimmer... but not looking for a .45 at this time.
