The local gun store is having a big sale and I wanted to get a light weight wheel gun to carry as a backup. Sitting there nice an pretty beside the 38 was a new M&P40C. The local supply of these has been low so I bypassed the 38 and picked up my new M&P40C. I have a full size that I have run around 1000 rounds through. I have been to the range twice with it and have run 250 rounds. I am very happy. At 15', 21' and 30' I had nice groupings. I was more accurate with the pinky finger mag so I ordered one from Midway for the second magazine. I will be changing the sites soon to the same high viz sites I have on my full size. I did not shoot as well at 50' I hit the 8" target only 60% of the time. but I am only 70% with the full size at that distance. I just got my CCW permit so I am now looking for a holster now. The C will be my primary carry gun.
I've been losing weight so I didn't need to bump up a size in the pants, but you may want to. Depends on how your pants fit, if a little loose in the waist, i.e. you need to wear a belt you should be ok, if snug then definitely move up at least one pant size.
I did go up a size, it just makes it easier and more comfortable. The MTACs are good and the Crossbreeds Supertuck is very nice too. Both are good choices IMO.
I didn't need to go up in size. As long as your pants are not too tight you shouldn't need new pants. I've actually found an advantage to " love handles". My pistol hides behind one.
