Default Perfect IWB for M&P9c

Hi,
Would someone please let me know, which IWB holster (brand/model) is BEST for the M&P9c? I am looking for MAX concealability, comfort and ease of draw/re-holster...

thanks!

WOW! if anyone could figure out which one holster would be perfect/best for every person in the world I'd think they would be sitting on a gold mine.

The short, simple answer is...There is no perfect holster for every person. You'll have to do your own research and experimentation and go from there.

A search on this forum of say "M&P9c holster" will net you a few dozen suggestions I'm sure. Go try that on google once and you'll have enough links to keep you busy for several months.

The PERFECT one is the one you like best, until you find a better one. Seriously, do you think the perfect holster for a guy that weighs 450lbs will be the same one that a gal likes that weighs 95lbs?

I like the Crossbreed Supertuck for 4:30 carry. I just ordered a Mika IWB for 3:00 carry.

For reference I am a 180lbs of rippling muscle trapped in a 230lb body.

Why would the time of day determine which holster you use? Do you have a formal one for after 6pm?

I AM JUST JOKING!!

I like the white hat maxtuck. (same as cbst). But often I wear a Don Hume iwb I picked up when I first got my 9c. Single clip is easier to get on/off quickly and I prefer my gun stay holstered when removing it. The maxtuck is more comfortable and tuckable. But the Hume disappears in the right spot, but occassionaly requires a shirt adjustment to maintain concealment when getting out of the car.

when i "impulse-purchased" my 9c, i also threw the first kydex IWB holster i saw hanging on the wall into my shopping cart.

didn't expect much, but i like this one. it's the single clip design which i prefer.

I am a CrossBreed fan period. I carried a 3913, and a Beretta 92 in a supertuck and they felt like they weren't even there. I have ordered one for my new M&P9. Great holster, most comfortable I have ever tried, and I have a box full of not so good ones.

I like to have some horse hide or something between me and my gun. I like Mika's idea of a fabric he uses that is a moisture barrier, that's why I ordered one of his to try.

For me, the removable IWB is a great idea, I just don't have one yet that is perfect. Perhaps the perfect holster doesn't exist.

What you do see is my S&W M&P40C what you hardly see is my Smith & Wesson9 Full size in a Minotuar IWB. I can carry it all day long with no discomfort and as you can see the time of day it is definitely after 5 pm.

The MTAC is expensive but it will be the only and last IWB holster you buy. There is not enough to say about this particular holster except that it is very comfortable with great retention!

I have a drawer full of holsters but with this one choice I hardly ever open it for them. The choice is your for experimentation but it is costly and time consuming. My advice is to buy one and if you do not like it let Minotuar know about it and if you like it let everyone else know!

The other holster you see is a Blackhawk holster with the paddle about 30 bucks for duty carry and at the range, it has great retention that is adjustable and fits both my 40c and 9 full size!

Here's a link to get one cheap from Midway:

remember.. no matter what iwb you buy, it's junk without a proper belt.

I too have the white hat max tuck in horsehide. Great holster fully supported by a gun belt from the Beltman.

If you have 6 months to wait, you can't go wrong with a Milt Sparks VM-2.

Here's a few more. Milt Sparks on the right. You can see the sweat shield in this picture. Stoner in the middle. Comp Tac Infidel on the right. All serve their purpose depending upon belt loops, shirts, weather, etc.

If you have one with the safety, just make sure you get something on the skin side, at least that's my experience. It doesn't take much to swipe them off. However, I should mention that I do have a bit of a spare tire, ok, more than a bit. So perhaps it's a personal problem!

I have the same gun but in the 40 and LOVE my foxx hybrid holster. See my review. For $37 shipped you can't beat it, less than half the price of a crossbreed, with same great quality and workmanship and lifetime warranty

Everyone has an opinion on IWB holsters, but I think the material from which they are made should be as THIN as possible to enhance concealment.

I recommend Paul Giannaula at PJ Holster. Ask for one of his IWB holsters with the so called clip on belt loop. It is not the old type of metal clip that allows the holster to come out with the pistol upon presentation. Instead, it has a curled in portion at the bottom that positively hooks on the belt, yet is easy on - easy off.

while it has been said that you will end up with a box full of holsters I took the words of a wise man who said the cheap holsters will get you killed. I bought a Galco to use while I waited for my Milt Spark's V-Max 2. I carry 80% of the time and I only have 2 holsters the Galco that stays in the drawer and the Milt sparks that stays on my side. While I can not give you a side by side comparison I have never found it necessary to look for a new holster.
The wait sucked but well worth it. if you look around you can find other makers that have copied the v max and may be able to deliver faster but its nice to support the original and not the copy cats.
Edited to add "you need a real good belt or the best holster is junk".

The most comfortable IWB holster I've used for my M&P9c is the Sticky holster. No clips it's held in place by the material and belt pressure. It's very easy to adjust to find the perfect spot on your waist. The draw is easy and the only downside is reholstering which requires you to remove the holster. But since using one is so comfortable I don't mind the reholstering regimen. Remora holsters are similar.

Holsters are like shoes, buy what is comfortable to you and you'll be happy, happy, happy. You might take a look at the Versa Carry. To me it is very comfortable. However, you must remove it to reholster. And the price is right at around $30 shipped. Happy holster hunting.

Since I last posted (what has it been, maybe a year and a half ago? ) I had to send the Mika holster back because it was defective, the next one he sent was for the wrong gun, and I gave up on getting a Mika.

I did find Ray at Lobo Gun Leather though, and have three of his holsters so far. I plan to order more.

I wear his IWB every day, all day.

I use the Lobo IWB with sweat shield AND the slide shield in horsehide. I liked the one I have for my shield so much, I bought one for my 9c too.

I would suggest Luke @ adams holsters. I will occasionally put on his IWB with a sigma 40F ( at 4:30 ) when my back is bothering me. He does everything from cowhide to elephant and they are comfortable. Be Safe,

I like the comptac holsters I have, so I recommend those.

Just this summer I've been trying and using a versa-carry for 9mm compacts for my 9c, and I really like it on some levels. It conceals REALLY well. downsides to it is that re-holstering is not an option without removing it from your belt, so practicing your draw can be time consuming. Also, there is nothing between you and the gun. BUT! it conceals REALLY well and while not the most secure or comfortable (it's not uncomfortable, either) it gives me a no-print carry when wearing lighter, tighter summer attire.

The perfect IWB is the one that's perfect for you. I use the Raven Phantom and love it. You have to buy the soft loops separate as you can carry this holster IWB or OWB. I carry mine IWB most of the time but also OWB with the soft loops as well on occasion. It's about as comfortable as any holster I've tried and very durable. This was one of the holsters that was recommended in the advanced shooting class I attended. It stays in place good for quick draws and can't be ripped off your hip.
