M&P 45c vs 40c
How much larger is the 45c over the 40c.
I am looking at either one of these for a carry gun. I have searched and have not seen pic of them together.
45 holds 8 rounds and the 40 holds 10 rounds.
anyway thanks

the 45c is slightly longer barrel, and height is slightly taller. However the grip on the 45c is useable with the flat floor plate magazine and on the 40c you will probably use the finger extension floor plate. That make them really darn close in height. I carry the 45c and it fits in most of the holsters that my 9c and 40c fit also. Except the ones with closed bottoms...as I stated the barrel is longer. As for 10 rounds of 40 versus 8 of 45 that is really your choice. I found that I can shoot the 45c better than I can the 40c. I do believe that the 45 pushes and the 40 snaps at recoil. Either way the 45 is my daily carry......Great gun...would also suggest the Apex trigger upgrade for either...

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll wait until I have broken in and then get an Apex. 200 rounds should do. Stay safe....

I have the 45C, and actually many hundreds of rounds are needed to smooth out the trigger. I considered either APEX or gun smith work for my trigger, but the more I shoot it the better it gets. I'm still testing at about 500 round count, and I'm not convinced yet that I will have to do anything to the trigger. This is coming from a 1911 guy as my name indicates.
Let us know how yours turns out.

I would suggest the .40 because you can drop 2 different barrels. The 9mm and .357SIG.
I'm not sure if the .45 can accept a smaller barrel for some cheap practice.

My 1st M&P was a full size 9mm.(for target/comp) I liked it so much that I sold my CS9(which I CC) and got a M&P40C. I was ,like you, torn between the 45 and the 40. Ballistic comparisons showed the are almost the same. That being said, I went with the 40 because of slightly more capacity, and the overall smaller size of the pistol. I hope this helps. On a side note, I bought my first with an Apex DCAEK already installed. Now that I'm shooting the 40 with the stock factory trigger, (yuch!) I'm installing the Apex DCAEK in that this week. It makes a world of difference. In my opinion, S&W should team with Apex and send out all their pistols with it installed. The factory M&P trigger makes an otherwise top notch pistol seem cheesy.

So far, I believe it's just the .40 or .357 that can do all the drop in goodness. I thought about the .45 but IMO if I'm going to get a .45 I go with a 1911 but that's just me.

I'd go M&P45c over an M&P 40c, any day of the week.

I agree
Based on the size differences between the two guns (I posted pics in a separate thread), the 45c is not overly large, still concealable, and I am much more accurate with it compared to my 9c.

I bought the 40c and all I can add to this is buy a box of 180gr ammo and a box of 155gr or 165gr to feel the difference. I'm 180gr all the way.
