I think I might have made a mistake......

Was at lgs today and happened to end up with a fs M&P 9mm in my hand.I bought the 9c thinking of using it as a carry gun. As luck would have it, that duty fell to my G30. Now I am thinking that I really want that full size instead of the compact. It just feels like an extension of my arm. For u guys that have fired the fs and the c models. Is it worth it to part ways with my 9c or am I just wanting something because I know I don't have it. Is there that much of a difference in the shootability to warrant ditching my compact for the full size. Don't let this post fool you, I do love my compact. I loves the fs too. Just wonder if I did it. Would I get it home and wish I hadn't done it. Whatcha think?

I get that feeling every time I come home with a "new" gun. Aw hell, get 'em both. I do have both the full size and the compact as well.

It's called buyer's remorse, and it affects me too...as well as, "I want more guns, and the ones I already have won't do!"

The M&P9c is a great pistol...I have one, and I really like it. I also have FS and C models of the M&P 45. I've yet to have a FS M&P 9...and I think I need one. I'm definitely keeping my 9c, as my wife likes it, and until we get her what she wants, she can use it. Plus, it is great for carry.

Why do I want a FS M&P 9? It would be a great range gun, and I can even use the FS magazines in my 9c at the range, or as re-loads. Plus, it is a really good gun...but for me, just a little too big for daily carry.

I am thinking that if I get the fs mags and the extender that might curb my enthusiasm. Might try that first. Not like its a piece of **** that I can't stand. Maybe have the best of both worlds. Lolol.

Since it's not going to be used for carry it sounds like a range-only gun. If it's not for match shooting then keep the 9c or get both - I've got a 4.25 Pro & 9c and they both do well at the range. If you might do matches it sounds like you may be better off with the FS or a 9L.

I sold my 9c and bought a full-size. I like it a lot better. Frankly it's no harder to conceal. In fact it's more comfortable to carry than the compact because the longer barrel seems to stabilize the gun better. The compact always shifted around.

I had my 9c for 2 years, so I gave it a lot of thought. I would not call it a mistake to buy the 9c. If you bought the full-size first you'd be thinking you should have bought the 9c.

you could always get some full sized mags and some xgrips and then you have a full sized grip on a short barrel. course you could always solve your problem the way i have...

My 9c is my favorite gun, the one I shoot the best and the most. I don't shoot my 40 FS much. I have others I shoot, too, but my 9c is the most fun.

Does a gun with longer sight radius with a full size grip shoot inherently better compared to a compact model? Of course it does. Should you sell the 9C and get a 9FS? Absolutely not. Different guns for different applications. Wait for that tax return check and treat yourself to the FS or Pro.

i kinda asked myself the same question after getting the 9c.

i have a full sized 9pro and liked it so much i thought i would replace my Kahr K9 carry gun with the 9c. the 9c proved a little too bulky to carry here in t-shirt and flip-flops FL.

i found a job for the 9c though; i carry it in the tankbag of my motorcycle, in the truck or boat. if we run over to the beach for the weekend, i put an x-grip on a 17 round mag and take 18 rounds of 9mm +P with me. i don't even bother with any extra mags, just throw it (holstered) into a duffle bag and go.

i think the 9c is a great little pistol and i'm keeping mine

I'm kind of like insomniac, I bought a FS40 and thought gee, I don't have a 45, so I got one of those and thought, I should have got a compact, so I got one of those then thought this is nice but still too bulky for wearing shorts or dress pants so I got a BG380 and now..... Did you see the Sig 224???? Looks pretty sweet!!!

What is that interesting mag/extension you have on the compact? I've been searching for accessories and have not come across that cool looking setup.

I'm pretty sure I'll be treating myself to a BG380 when the tax refund comes in as well...I mean doesn't everyone need the ultimate gun for concealed carry?

I had a 9c and a .40c and sold them both. When tried carrying either of them, I found I had issues (minor issues, but still issues) with getting a decent grip when drawing from a holster. Plus, I much prefer the feel of the full size in my hand than the compact. So I now have a FS 9 and FS .40. Having said that, I'm still looking for "THE" gun for CCW; I can conceal either of my M&Ps with no problem, but I'm still looking for exactly what I want (and once I figure out what that is, then I'll be set...I hope :-)

Hi evnash-----I tried that link and just came to the main forum page. Can the 9mm compact hold the regular 17rd mag? Then I'd just get an S & W extension of some kind?

I have had both. I sold my FS 9 that I had for over 2 years. 4 months later I bought a 9C and it is my every day carry gun. I prefer the 9C as EDCG over the full size.

I don't know. Only you can decide that. I do know that I never buy compact anything. Well, maybe not never. I had a Model 66 snub-nose at one point. Would that count? Anyway, fs pistols are easier to hit with, and more comfortable to shoot, and really not all that much harder to conceal, at least in my experience.

I have them both and carry them both. I prefer the full size, but some times it's a lot easier carrying the compact. Especially in the summer months. I think in order to appease your mind you really just need to own both. That impulse is common sense telling you to buy more Smiths. How can that be wrong?

You shouldn't even ask such a question on this forum! Please realize most of us, myself included, are very enthusiastic about spending other member's money. We will almost always tell you to get both and probably even more.

I got the FS first, then the compact. I really like them both. The FS is better for the range but compact better, at least for me, for carry. The compact with full size mag is sort of in between.

If you can afford if, get them both.

Do this. I have the full size and compact and honeslty I shoot the SC as good as the full size, and I can conceal it easily. Add the x-grip adapters to the 17 round mags and you have a full size grip. Best of both worlds IMO.

I got it too - love my G30 - best carry gun I have - I think - but then I carry my custom 1911 - a lot - shoot both well and no real issues - like the compact better in warm weather and the big frame in cooler weather - hmmm - thinking I need ...

I love this answer - it is very easy to spend other peoples money; what you have to decide (and no one can do that for you) is what are you most comfortable with. Over the years I came to realize that I now own nothing but Smith and Wessons; I have traded off or sold my Berretta 9MM; my G27, My H&K 9MM that I picked up when I was stationed in Germany in the 70's; I now only own a S&W model 66 357 magnum; a 38 Airweight; a Bodyguard 380; and my new M&P40c; Each has its own unique job to do, and that changes all the time; Whats Best for you?
