My wife loves her new M&P 9c but has problems racking the slide due to arthritis. Does anyone have a source for a slide Racker?

My wife uses me...

I bought her a Ruger LC9, because she could rack the slide on mine. I bought her the Talo Gold edition, because she likes "pretty" guns...and now she doesn't want to shoot it and "mess it up."

On a serious note, I need to work on her strength and technique, because she needs to be able to rack whatever pistols we have available. (She doesn't like revolvers.)

I did see a product made for Glocks, that attached to the slide (basically gripped the slide with tension screws, no mods needed) and allowed for a straight back pull...but I haven't see it for any other slides.

Is she reaching over the slide, thumb pointed toward her chest, and grasping the slide with the meat of her hand and all fingers as she should? Or trying to "pinch cycle" or "slingshot" the slide?

Use the reach over method, it's maximized for grasping strength. And works for all slide movement regardless of purpose. Open the slide, close it, clear stoppages, etc. This is taught during Day 1 at good pistol courses.



If this doesn't work the Beretta M86 pistol has a tip up barrel and can be loaded/unloaded without ever racking the slide or cocking the pistol. Only .380ACP but better than nothing. I had one for a couple of years. Nice pistol. DA/SA.

1+ except mine also likes revolvers and has no problem with the slide.

I did remove the full length guide rod on my .45 so she can "push-cock" it if needed.

Don't send a man to do a woman's job.

Guys tend to say "hold the gun like this and just do it" without always appreciating what women have to deal with.

So ... let a female firearms instructor provide the techniques and instructions.

Ahhh, another recommendation for reaching over the slide.
