Default Newly Stippled Grips VIDEO ADDED

I had posted looking for information on the Hogue Hybrid grips for the M&P9, and through all the answers, I chose to stipple my own grips. Having a BB gun of the same model, I was fortunate to have a test bed for my effort. Here are the results. I think they worked out the best of my options. I purchased the Hogue grip, it was fine, just a little wide in the palm swells. I was fortunate they came out better than I had planed, thanks to a great video on You Tube. I used a soldering iron, pencil type, and just tapped the grips and front strap to produce this stipple. I must say it was more beginners luck than skill. Thanks for the look.

A clean and effective stippling aids in both form and function. A lot of people get the soldering iron out and make their guns look like some kind of art project gone horribly wrong. Yours on the other hand looks very nice. Good job!

I agree 100%, most of them tend to give you the same feeling in your stomach as seeing a fat girl in stretch pants. This one looks good though.

Here is the video I watched to get an idea on what technique to use.

I agree, this is one of the better stipple jobs I've seen on here. Some look sloppy, and just poking holes with the iron tip but if they like it...

Check out a member named "aziator" on here...he makes some really nice stippled back straps. I've got a LOT to learn before I can really use mine.

Default Love Your Work

I really like the way yours came, one of the best that I like, not too aggressive and just the front and back . I saw the same video and have been wanting to try this, but am afraid to mess up the gun, its an M&P22 so nothing is removable. How hard was it, since it is just tapping, is it easier to do as opposed to a set pattern. Do you just do light tapping all over.

My sweaty hands were affecting my shooting. Purchased one of Chris's aggressive starburst pattern backstraps. Problem solved.

Streak yours look hot. Sort of like the girls in the Sports Illustrated swim suit issue.

I've now been making and selling mine for almost 4 months. Expanded from simple grips (like Chris) to now over 30 "stipplable" items on the M&P line. I've also stippled on XGrips and some other items...with varying degrees of success (my #8 looks great on an XGrip - but those grips are EXPENSIVE to experiment on!)

I don't do frames...don't take guns to work on...and I still enjoy learning how many different parts there are for all these guns!!! (Heck, I stock and stipple 9 different types of basepads alone!)

This is a great hobby if people are interested - some basic internet research and an initial investment is all you need. You will see grips offered for as low as $15 or as high as $40 apiece - just go with what works for you and ensure they have a money back guarantee if you simply don't like the feel (that goes for me as well).
