Default M&P 22 updates

Hi all. I've been reading a lot of positive reviews about the new m&p 22 pistol and would like to have one as a training companion to my m&p9c. People that own them seem to really like them but i have seen mentioned a couple of areas that could use improvement, namely the lack of interchangeable backstraps and better sights. Does anyone think s&w may eventually make these and possibly other changes to the pistol in the forseeable future, say within the next 12-18 months? I hate to buy a new gun and have to immediately change the sights on it. Opinions? Any other changes owners or potential buyers would like to see?

S&W doesn't make them to begin with, but I doubt any changes would come for quite some time.

The sights are interchangeable with the centerfire pistols, and I've heard of S&W sending a rear sight for free on a few occasions! Go with it you won't be disappointed.

While interchangeable back straps would be nice, the grip feels very good as is. Sort of like a midpoint between the small and medium M&P back strap. The rear sight cut will accept any rear M&P sight. The front cut may or may not depending on the sight, but a small amount of filing will fix that.

It's not about changes to the M&P22, it's about aftermarket support. And yes, I am betting at the rate S&W is selling the joint venture gun there will be more and more aftermarket support.

Thats a good point mlk18, and i'll bet you are right that the aftermarket will respond sooner than s&w or walther.

The standard white 3 dot sights will fit with a little filing. Now it matches my FS m&p9. Still trying to figure out how to secure the front sight down since it doesn't have a set screw and it doesn't "wedge" into the dove tail like m&p9. Might just put some loctite on it. No big deal on the backstrap since I put the Talon sand grips on both...more texture.
