Default New M&P 45-weak slide release/takedown lever?

Hey everyone,

I first will point out that I'm a new guy around here and fairly new with guns. I used to own a CZ P07 Duty 9mm but traded that in for a M&P 9mm FS. At that time I couldn't help but pick up the M&P 45 FS. I must say what a smart and great trade and purchase. I freaking love my new M&Ps and favor the .45 a lot more now that I've shot it. I could keep going about my love for these two guns but I won't get an answer to my question by doing that.

So with thy being said. Here's my question...with my 45 I noticed that when loading a mag or not loading at all, if I moderately tap the bottom the slide release will go into action. This may not be a huge problem but Ive only noticed it in one particular gun (HK USP) which was a rental at a gun shop. My 45 is a brand new purchase from Gander Mountain. Also, when I go to engage the takedown lever it doesn't want to stay engaged most of the time. I have to hold it down so I can break down the gun. Are these common issues or did I get a lemon? I mean I guess it isn't as bad as some other stories but it is sort of a hassle sometimes.

Thanks.

My new 40c is the same way. Kinda making it a little bit of a hassle.

I noticed this right away with my 9c also. Even though I was alone I was kind of embarassed because I rotated it down and it snapped back up with a pretty loud click that made me jump!

A quick and easy fix (at least with mine): I noticed when the slide was locked back and I rotated the take down lever down, that the guide rod also moved and pointed slightly downward. Now, when I rotate the takedown lever I just nudge the tip of the guide rod back up a little, towards the barrel, maybe a 1/4 inch or so, don't force anything and no need to push pressure on it, and the takedown lever now stays rotated downward. Hope this works for you guys, too, but I'll be watching this thread for a better answer!

Huh....never even noticed or thought that was the case. I'll have to try it out. Thanks but yes I am interested if this is a design flaw or just a hiccup.
