rear sight plunger spring M&P 9mm
I had the store I bought the gun from take out a faulty laserlyte rear sight and replace it when it was fixed. They left the plunger spring out and didn't seem to know what it was for. What does the spring do and is it important to have in place?
Thanks

It's for the striker block. Also make sure that the little disk is there too.

I tried 3 times to post without saying something sarcastic about the person who worked on the M&P. Too tough....
Let's just say an important safety feature is disabled and the spring should be replaced. Don't drop the gun until it is fixed.

I think sarcasm is in order. I don't know who the dickweed is that worked on your gun but DO NOT put live ammo in that gun till the correct striker block spring is installed and the block is functioning correctly.

"I don't know what it's for so why bother putting it back in"
???????! Ummm... do you think smith and wesson just adds to their production costs by adding unnecessary parts and springs? I have choice words for the gun shop but it's all juvenile name calling and not appropriate for a family forum.

+1...what he said^^^.
Just as bad as taking your car in for new brakes. They take off the old brakes and did not put the new brakes before returning you car back. Accident waiting to happen and of course it's not their fault!
This is NOT acceptable period .

It's really hard to imagine that a shop would even do something that reckless.
