Default Help with 9c please, can't remove slide????

I've had my 9c for a few months and have field stripped and cleaned/oiled once before no problems.
A few days ago I installed new rear site and the procedure went well. I went to test fire yesterday and no luck.....tried different mags and notta.
So my first thought is strip and clean/oil and try again. When I follow the strip procedure in manual, I cannot get the slide to release from frame. I've tried with and without the SDL depressed and both ways with pulling trigger while sliding forward and my dumb *** still can't separate the slide off of frame.
Any ideas? Could I have fouled up something while changing sight? I was careful to maintain spring and disc, but if these were somehow mis-seated could that cause this problem?

Sorry for the obvious question... Did you rack the slide after you changed the rear sight and did things work at that time or did you just put the slide back on?

I didn't remove slide to install sight, but yes I did rack.
And yes everything seemed to be functioning properly before the sight change. I'd been shooting about every weekend.

0. CLEAR the pistol. Keep your finger off the trigger until Step 4.
1. Pull the slide fully to the rear.
2. Rotate the disassembly lever down 90°.
3. Allow the slide to go fully forward.
4. Dry fire the pistol (pull the trigger). Pistol will go "click."
5. Remove the slide off the front of the frame.

If you hold the trigger to the rear while allowing the slide to close the disconnector functions just like when you fire it.

Here is a vid of attempting to strip. Poor quality, I'm using my left index finger to hold the takedown lever down as I slide forward.

I'd pull out the striker, possible with the gun together and slide locked back. No striker and the take down lever at 90deg and there should be no reason you can't get it apart. (This is also how to get your gun apart if you left the barrel out during reassembly... Yeah, did that!)

Hickok45 has a good tutorial on YouTube (for glocks, but applies here)

If the spring under the rear sight is not compressed and the silver disk is not centered properly, yes your weapon will not fire. drive your rear sight off from left to right again and before installing the new sight make sure you use a small flat punch to compress spring and disc into its fitted home. As you slide the new sight back into place you can allow the punch to come up and all should be good. Once sight is back inthe correct spot tighten set screw. Rack the slide and dry fire. If your slide jumps forward and your dry fire is weak, the spring is bent over and not seated properly. If slide stays put and you get the normal dry fire feel, your good to go. I too learned from experience. Brownells sells a rear sight install tool that drives the rear sight out and maintains the disc and spring for the firing pin. It is well worth the $3.99... Hope this

One more point, if this spring and disc are just a little out of wack, that slide is not coming off

Oh man, thanks shark. I'm gonna go try this. I wanted to believe that this sort of scenario was the issue, but thought highly unlikely. That makes sense.

I watched your video, your spring and disc are not seated properly. You can see the way the slide sits

Yeah, I thought it seemed funny too like there was a larger gap between slide and frame. Also the dry fires seemed mushy.
