Question Misfires with my m&p 9mm

Ive been experiencing a lot of misfires with factory ammo as of late. If i reload the round back into the gun, it fires just fine. I think that rules out a completely dead trigger. It has to be a techniquality. It appears that the primer has been hit but does not ignite. It could just be that the gun doesnt like the ammo im feeding it. Im using blazer cci aluminum alloy non reloadable because im on a budget with being in school. They are cheap target rounds. Ive never taken the firing pin housing out, and ive put around 2000 rounds through the gun. The firing pin spring is a little sticky. There might be residue inside the channel. This could be the problem. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it were me I'd tear it apart and clean it before posting.

I think you answered your own question. I've been shooting the aluminum cased Blazer lately and it seems (to me) to be pretty dirty stuff. Clean up your gun and keep blasting!

Besides cleaning the striker/firing pin tunnel, clean the debris drain. If you look at the bottom of the slide, right behind the breech face, you'll notice a small hole. This leads into the striker tunnel and allows the motion of the striker to pump brass particles and other particulates into the drain and allows them to pass into the magazine/magazine well. [Yet another reason for periodic cleaning of the magazines.] If the drain isn't kept clear, it allows faster buildup of debris & combustion products in the striker tunnel that can cause misfires.

To remove the striker, unload and field strip the weapon. With the slide upside down, depress the firing pin safety plunger (little barrel like item) and move the striker forward before releasing the plunger. Now take a small screwdriver and move the edge of the striker sleeve (white plastic sleeve) that's just in front of the protruding arm of the striker forward until it stops. The retaining plate at the rear of the slide can now be removed. Reverse to reinstall.

thanks for all the input. i ripped everything apart including the firing pin housing and cleaned it up, and finished with a light coat of rem oil. its still misfiring so I'm guessing it might be the ammo. ill try different ammo next time I'm at the range

what do you recommend using to clean out the drain as far as a tool?
