Default M&P 45 Wow!

Let me preface my comments by saying I am first and always a 1911 guy (especially those by Les Baer, had a few Colts "socialized" by Wayne Novak).

A buddy just got the M&P 45 4.5", w/factory night sights and dragged me along to the range for it's first outing. After putting on the small backstrap I was favorably impressed with how it fit in my hand. I was quite impressed with the trigger reset. Sights easy to pick up, fast & accurate double taps were a breeze out to 15 yards.

I like it, shot it better than any other S&W semi I ever owned or shot! Might be rethinking my next purchase.

I'm glad to hear this because I am giving my wife my new M&P 9c and was considering. M&P .45 as well. These M&P pistols just fit my hand perfectly and are very reliable as I have yet to have a problem in 350 rounds and they cycle all kinds of ammo so far.

Glad to hear you like you new M&P, but you should be made aware that after you get one of them they tend to multiply! I got my first M&P a couple of years ago it is a 4.25" 9mm now two years later well I have two M&P45s a M&P40C a 357C in two weeks after I get a new set of glasses (about $425) I'll pick up a never fired full size 40 also an M&P.

I have 8 handguns and six of those are M&P's one is a Glock 4th generation G26 and a Smith&Wesson Model 59 which I still shoot occasionally but it and the Glock pretty much stay in the gun safe

S&W Fan, I'm new to the forum but in the same boat as you. Always loved the 1911 but struggled with adapting to Glocks for the last 20 years. I shot a M&P 9c a buddy has and was hooked. i just got a M&P22 that is fantastic. I just don't know which one to get next. I really like the FS9 (feels better to me than 9c but will be harder to carry)but the 45c is calling to me. I'll probably wind up getting both but need too fit into the budget.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. WK, I hate the way the Glock fits in my hand, the grip angle is all wrong. When I put the small backstrap on the M&P it felt like a 1911 in my hand.

Been reading about the Apex parts to improve the trigger even more on the M&P, hmmm. Good thing I'm still a ways away from my next purchase, time to save up for whatever I decide to do.

I'm loving my full size M&P 45. It works great and feels so good.

As you can see from my name I am also a 1911 fanatik. I have carried a full size for much of my life, but now that I am getting older I was seeking a smaller and lighter .45 for daily carry. I tried a Colt Defender, and although many say these are very reliable guns, mine did not turn out to meet my criteria for carry reliability, which is 100% reliability 99% of the time.

About eight months ago I bought a 45C, and I couldn't be happier. With the small grip insert my 45C has similar ergonomics as my 1911, and it has been 100% reliable with all ammo. The shootability is excellent for a striker fired gun, and at 26oz, it is a breeze to carry. I feel very confident with my new side kick, and I never thought I would say that of anything but a 1911.

I started with a 1911 but moved to a Glock 21 for higher capacity and lower weight. Loved the gun but I couldn't get used to the 9mm size Glocks (17, 19 etc) and I'm a big advocate of standardizing. I want the guns I carry and compete with to be as similar as possible and I couldn't get that with the Glocks. They chewed my hands up every time I shot anything other than my G21. I gave the M&P9 a long look and picked up an M&P9 Pro 4.25" and that was it. After than I've gotten an M&P9c and my absolute favorite gun, the M&P45 full-size with thumb safety. I can easily see at least 2 more M&P's heading my way.

I know how you feel, I'm a diehard wheelgunner but tried an M&P45 and promptly went out to get one. This from a guy who swore he would never own one of those plastic abominations.
