Default My M&P Shield, Stippled, notched and crayolaed

All my M&P are stippled so i had to do my new Shield. Also gave it the red crayon treatment and notched the bottom of the trigger guard for my weak index finger.

shes a sweet shooter!

This might be a seemingly dumb question, but I've seen guys with Glocks that use finger nail polish to "bling" their guns.. is the Crayola method the same concept?

yeah. you just use a heat gun to melt crayon into the logo on the slide. then use a reg with WD40 on it to remove the excess. and a long range session or two the crayon starts to melt so you need to do it again.

I do not use Crayons myself since I no longer have children but my children do have children who I am sure use a computer to color things but I could be wrong!

My wife is also dead but there was still some nail polish hanging around so I use it. The first thing I do to any of my M&Ps is color them with a particular white that seems to stand out very well.

The entire process takes less than 10 minutes per gun and last until you decide to change colors or remove the paint with nail polish remover! For those interested in doing the same with their weapons the process is below!
  • Using a Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol degrease the area to be painted
  • Take a nail polish of your choice and liberally fill in the voids in the slide that are stamped where you want paint
  • Using non acetone nail polish remover on a paper towel or rag gently rub off the excess nail polish
  • Check for good definition and if necessary repaint and then remove excess paint til satisfied

There you have it how to custom paint your M&P or any gun for that matter, I also paint the witness holes and caliber of all my magazines it makes it much easier to read them in low light conditions!

You can also use Testor's paint pens for the same effect. It lasts a lot longer than crayons and isn't permanent.

Nail polish is more available unless you are not married and even if not it is cheaper about 97 cents plus nail polish remover is also cheap at about the same price as well as isopropyl alcohol an Q-Tips are not that expensive either!

If you use nail polish remover, use a non-acetone remover. It won't harm the finish.

I just use isopropyl alcohol. It takes more elbow grease, but there's no risk of it hurting the finish or polymer.

I believe that I addresses that in one of the steps and did in fact state non acetone nail polish remover for the very reason you stated which is to not harm the finish!

I color the logos on the bottom of all my S&W mags -- to distinguish the M&P9 from the M&P40 mags in the mag bin. White for 9mm, Blue for .40. Doesn't look bad and helps make sure I take the right ones with me to the range. Nothing wrong with a little personalization, either wax or nail polish.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to stipple their Shield! And colored too. Now I wonder how long it will take for someone to mill it for an RMR.

I don't think it'd be possible but if it is I may try

I saw one yesterday for the first time in real life ....

That baby is small ....

I am VERY VERY curious what would be required for an RMR install ...

On a Shield?

I'm not even sure the slide is wide enough to accept the mounting screws for a RMR.

Did you color the "CAUTION-CAPABLE OF FIRING WITH MAGAZINE REMOVED" on the right side?

I used different colors to help match my FS M&P9 and M&P40 slides and magazines. Gold for the 9mm, silver for the .40. Just one more way to try to "error proof" by adding another visual indicator.

I do admit that I like the antique gold better, so I also used it on my Shield40 and on the lettering on my Ruger Mark III Target as well. A bunch of people at the club are also shooting Mark IIs and IIIs in competition, and this really stands out as something a little different.

Guns. Where crayons are useful to grown kids, besides model railroading.

I must say I felt a little weird as a man going to the store and staring at all the nail polish, as I searched for plain white. And who knew that there would be as many different kinds of nail polish remover as there are nail polish colors...

Thank God for U-scans!

I went to Target today and got my nail polish there. The cheapest was NYC brand at less than a dollar. I bought white as well as a couple of pinks. I also bought a pink glitter. It looks pretty. I would post pics, but it is hard to notice the glitter unless you are moving the slide back and forth. I also bought the non acetone polish remover there.

I have been using the new Paint Pens from Sharpie. They offer Water-Based and Oil-Based so make sure you get the Oil-Based. I bought a set of Primary Colors at Michael's with a 50% Coupon for $8. Great product and easy to use. I used the Red and White for the F & S on my Sig 556 SWAT Patrol and the results are phenomenal.
