Man, you guys are getting good prices! My LGS wanted $450 + tax and they would not budge off that price. They usually move at least a little bit for me. They can't keep them on the shelf for even an hour, lol. The Shield comes in off the delivery truck and it's sold right away haha...

I bought mine on the 16th at a LGS for $399 plus tax.

I know that in time, the price will go down a bit, and the LEO SKU guns will be a bit cheaper. But the few dollars I paid to have it now was worth it to me.

I'm really liking this gun...

Raven Concealment Systems announced today that their "Quick Ship Phantom" holster now includes the Shield. They plan on being able to start shipping holsters Tuesday.

The only difference is price and an extra mag.

The .45's don't come with an extra mag for some reason though.

I'm hoping the shield does!

Small LGS was lucky and got two in. Told them to hold it, I'll be in after work. I got mine for 450. & tax. the other one was already gone. As new as they are, figured it be a "snooze ya loose" and I'd be waiting forever on one. Been keeping an eye on the other gun shops and the few they got in are gone and don't know when they'll get more. Talk about selling like hotcakes....

I paid $409 for mine from my LGS and managed to buy 1 extra 7 round mag for $32.95.
So far I have put 500 rounds though it without a problem, what a great little pistol.

I stoppod by the Gander Mountain in Tyler yesterday to kill some time. I asked the fellow at the gun counter if they had a shield. He said they did but couldn't find it. I asked what it was selling for and he said $549. I hope he miss spoke and ment $449.

I'm still bouncing off the walls because I actually found one. Five local gun stores couldn't get them so i drove 90 miles to Colorado (from Wyoming) today to get mine. $399 but I have to add $20 for shipping and another $18 for the FFL when it arrives.

This is gonna be the longest week ever....

$399.00 from Academy Sports in Houston. Gander Mountain and Carters Country want $449, but Gander would match Academy's Price. I understand that the Gander Mountain in Spring Texas has over 10 in stock.

Added a Houge Jr. Handall Grip sleeve from Gander for $10, Trimmed about 2-3 mm from the bottom once installed and what a difference. I have medium size hands, It's perfect. After seen pictures on blown up knees from striker fire pistols going off, I am going to love that safety lever.

Took it out today with my boy and put about 250 rounds. Just love it. I will be doing a trigger job to it to make it as smooth as my Bersa BP9CC and already ordered a Dawson Front fiber optic sight, and will black out the rear 2 dots.

Please post something about this. Are you saying that millions of Glocks have an inherent safety deficiency that is not being addressed?

I did not say that. I just mentioned striker fire. I am used to DA/SA guns. I see striker fire guns and of having one in the chamber and cocked ready to go with minimal resistance, it concerns me. I have seen pictures of triggers that snagged on weak holsters and clothing and people shot in the leg. We have a off duty PD officer who shot himself in the rear years ago by accident. I had a Beretta 380 that went off on my while 1/2 cocked. I have considered carrying a striker fire with out one in the chamber and have been practicing what they call the Israely draw. Accidents happened and no one is inmune from them. As someone who was almost carjacked years a go and took action as soon as I saw a guy with a gun getting out of the car I know that you can panic and question what your course of action should be and will question yourself after the ordela is over. I retracted my slide to place one in the chamber as my Walther P88 did not have one in the chamber. You must be prepared and practice and be disciplined to know your next move. Some people complain about the safety getting on their way, well it will if you do not know your weapon. Even your clothing will get in your way if you do not practice drawing and lifting your shirt with your other hand.

I was just thinking yesterday that I was gonna call the LGS to see when they might be getting the leo/mil shields in. I was curious to see the cost since the other versions are pretty significant.

I was quoted $415 out the door from an LGS here in town. The problem is actually getting one. He said the .40 cal version is in his system to order but none available yet....

Im getting the 9mm for my wife and waiting for an LEO.40 for myself.

Some gun shops split the guns for LEOs and citizens, some don't. The benefit for a gun for LEOs is that there is a very nice discount attached to them. For an normal M&P full size/Compact 9/40, a typical shop may sale it for $500, for LEOs, we can get them for $399.

The Beretta .380 and the Walther P88 are both hammer fired guns.
I'm trying to figure out why you are telling us that striker fired guns are inherently dangerous.

Do you think revolvers are dangerous also?

367+tax on 19APR for me.

I just sent in the nation's finest $50 rebate even thought I'm uncertain if any stipulations are in place for the shield - hoping it qualifies

I was a little confused myself. I've shot striker fired handguns from Glock, S&W, Kahr and Kimber. No opportunity to shoot a SA XD yet. Unless I'm totally off base, the only one of them that has the striker under extreme tension when a round is chambered is the Kimber. I'm assuming (a very dirty word) that's why Kimber included a manual safety on the Solo. I could be totally wrong. Wouldn't be the first time and certainly won't be the last.

$409.99, but I used the funds from a Gen 4 Glock 17 consignment sale. Kind of like getting it for free.

I paid 299.95 at my local gun shop. They sell the fs and compact for $387.99. If you pay more than $400 for the full size or compact you paid too much. pay more than $350 for the shield you paid too much

I got mine online $425 shipped, $25 FFL fee, total $450. I don't feel ripped off at all since these are near impossible to find locally in this area. Plus, if they had them in local shops, they'd probably sell for MSRP. With tax + NICS, it would've been more, anyway.

BS. Dealer cost is more considerably more than that, heck at $350 a dealer would only be making a couple bucks.

Please post the name of your dealer so we can call and verify.

Yes, I'd like to know that dealer....

LE price on an M&P is $399. We don't know LE pricing on a Shield yet.

Or are you paying $299 for the Shield, plus $40 for the case, $40 for the magazine, $40 for a service fee, and $20 markup so actual out-the-door price is $439?

I smell bull %$#&. Your LGS won't be in business very long by taking a loss on selling guns.

$370 from my local gun shop.

I was in shock when I learned the price. I mean seriously, this little gun is by far the best sub-compact single stack 9mm on the market. The quality is unrivaled. The features are what you would expect in a modern fighting handgun... and it's only $370?

Not only that, the day S&W announced the handgun (I was at the NRA show that week in St. Louis) they started shipping them to dealers THAT WEEK. None of this rolling a new gun out then waiting 6 months for them to slowly appear on shelves, something other gun makers do to us.

S&W did everything right with the Shield.

I may sound like a S&W fanboy, but I'm not. I've been a Glock guy for decades when it comes to defensive carry guns. But the M&P and specifically the Shield have impressed me considerably.

$390 + tax at one of my LGS and a whole $5 more at the other (smaller Mom & Pop store).
(Same price for 9mm or .40)
The Mom & Pop shop had nobody on the wait list, while the larger store had a couple dozen names.

Now if I could only find someone with spare mags in stock!

I'm trying to figure out why you are telling us that striker fired guns are inherently dangerous.

Do you think revolvers are dangerous also?
Just my opinion on striker fire pistols, got rid of the 380. The Walther P88 is somewaht different as it will not fire unless you completely pull the trigger, even if you pull the hammer as far as you can an release it will not fire. Anyway I just wanted a gun with a safety on it.

Thumbs down

I got two prices locally on Wed.
Neither had the Shield in stock. Neither could get one at this time due to distributors being out with no time frame for additional deliveries.
Both quoted MSRP + tax + NICS, $480.00.
Neither was willing to budge on price.
Both had several inquiries about the Shield.

I'm on the waiting list at my LGS, but they are charging $420 + tax for the Shield. More than what most are paying but not as bad as others.I've been going to that store for 12 years now and the 20+ employees know be by name when I come in and can even recognize that it's me over the phone.

I have lots of other shops to go to ,but they're 40min - 1hr away.Gas/transfer fees/shipping are all considerations when purchasing a gun online and with the Shield,it was no more than $19 in savings.

Got my 9 for $399 online plus shipping and transfer, then decided I liked it so much I had to have a .40. I just bought one online for $459... $10 over MSRP... life is too short to wait several months for them to become readily available at a discount. I figure I'll just skip a couple of restaurant meals and come out OK. None of my local LGS's have seen either caliber yet.
