$395 + tax. LGS that likes me(I repair some firearms for them). The day after S&W announced release. My LGS knows I am an M&P fan.
BTW, If any noticed or looked, Yes, the Shield has a much better trigger reset. It looks to me that S&W changed the trigger return spring. It is definately bigger than M&P's in the past. I hope it is the same size, because I will use that spring in my FS M&P, hopefully.
Thanx, Guys

I ordered one from my LGS the day after the NRA convention. Thought it would take awhile for my dealer to get one so I bought one off of Gun Broker for $410. This week the one I ordered came in and since I wanted a 2'nd one I bought it this afternoon. His price is $341 so I should have waited, but 2 is better than one. My dealer got 5 9mms and 5 40s which by the end on the afternoon were all spoken for.

Shield was $5 and two gallons of gas
Cabela's traded me straight across for my Beretta Nano of 6 months and 1,300 rounds and 11 FTE.
I figure a Nano paper weight is worth $5.

Got to handle one today at the gun show. Priced 449. Then looked at a Kahr CW 9mm for 359. Liked both but the Kahr felt better. They had the CW40 for same price. Son in law carries the MP in 45. I've shot it and like it except the trigger. Passed on both today. Wife thinks I have to many.

I went to the gun show in Orlando today and walked out with a Shield in. 40. I was figuring all that would be available would be in 9mm. They had a tag listing the price as $499. I asked one of the guys what they would take for it and he said $449. I would have bout the 9 if they had one and it was $400 or lower. Now I need to get to the range and check it out.

Hhmm... guess I didn't do too bad. 419.00 is what I paid. Wish I could have gotten it for some of these lower prices I see on here but when I found it... I took it.

Got my 40 Shield today
Today I got the first 40 Shield that my LGS had been able to get, and paid $449 plus tax in southeastern NC. Do I wish I'd been able to get it for less? Yeah. Do I think the gun is worth it? Definitely.
Put 50 rounds through it before I had to go back to work. No failures. Recoil was kinda "active" but I was already used to an M&P 45 with 4.5" barrel so I didn't really care and I know I'll adjust to it.
Sweet little gun. I'm tickled with it.

First post. Long time shooter & big PPS fan. Couldn't get past the fact that I have no small .40 in my inventory. Used that as rationalization to pick up the first .40 Shield I've seen for $469 @ LGS.

I've been looking for a month with no success, so I jumped on one today for $459. Wish I could have gotten it for less but I'm glad to finally have one.

I couldn't find any in central Texas where I live, but got lucky during a recent trip to Houston. Paid $449 plus tax. I prefer buying in person so I can inspect the firearm before buying it (no scratches, mars, missing parts, obvious defects, etc).

Got mine for $420 plus tax = $448. Sounds like a lot of folks are getting some really good prices. In the Charlotte NC area, nearly every store is selling them at MSRP with one store in the area selling them for $499 plus tax. Refused to pay (gouged) more than retail.
All of the stores around here are selling them as soon as they hit the shelf...

My LGS is hunting for one for me. He says,"if there is one out there I will get it". What that means to me is....it's going to cost me out the butt..LOL. This is a very small shop so it isn't very competitive. I figure I'll pay MSRP.

What Did I pay?
$419 + $33 tax $452 OTD
Shield 40S&W
At St. Louis gun show today. Looked at a couple of guns on display and asked if he had any Shields. He said yes, I got 2 in yesterday. A 9 and a 40. They are not display because we didn't have room. I looked at the 40 at $419, this is what I came for, I'll buy it.

I paid what seems to be the going rate at "fair" LGS. $399 + tax. If I had paid full MSRP at $449 it really is not that big of a deal. It just feels a little better to get something off the list price if you think someone else is getting a better price than you did. The "whatever" price you paid melts into a smile after your first trip to the range. Enjoy your gun, screw the possible $50 you could have saved if you waited a year. Have a couple less beers at a bar and everything will even out very fast.
