I got into the hunt to late and I couldn't find any in the Portland Or area. I stopped by a small shop outside of Portland and they happened to have a 40cal due to arrive thirty minutes later. I waited for it and after handling it I said I would take it. That was when they said they wanted $479 for it. I balked and they said they had someone calling every day for one. I gritted my teeth and took it anyway because it was starting to look like it might be a very long wait to find one at any price.
After a day at the range, I have no buyer remorse. Awesome gun!!

I paid $449.00 with tax. I drove 244 miles round trip to find a Kahr, or M&P Shield. I have looked at the small carry guns for a long time and the last shop I stopped at had the gun that she had purchased for someone else but he wanted a 9MM.
I did not ask the price all I said was "Guess what, it is mine now so write it up". After Sunday test run I am happy with it but I need to find a magazine loader so I am open to suggestions on this.

$429 plus tax at a LGS that is typically more expensive than other, smaller shops in the area. The other shops had none in stock.

June 2012 $399 My local LGS knows he can charge what he wants to, but refuses to take advantage of that situation. Guess where we buy all our guns?

Mine is of the same mindset. On our state gun forum a guy posted in the *Found a Deal* forum a PMR30 @ $650.00 at a different gun shop north of me.That is SOooo not a deal. At my LGS recently, I bought a 10/22 Take Down for $300 and I think that a fair deal.

A LGS had s special sale day a few weeks back. Got a 9mm for $399, including a S&W Range bag ($42 on the S & W site). They also had a prize wheel. Was hoping for a big prize but won a t-shirt. Even so, it was a great deal for a great gun

Bought my 9mm Shield 3 weeks ago at Academy Sports for $399 + tax. Seemed like a very good price considering it took me over 3 weeks to find one.

I was on 3 waiting lists for a Shield 9mm. The only place to call (after 2 months) was Cabelas. I paid $449 for mine yesterday.

$479 + $25 transfer from stockers in Ohio to me in SC. I dont think its a bad price at all for this gun. Retail is $449 + tax so I would not have been too far off if I bought from a LGS. I would buy another shield if I came across one for $399 like some folks here have.

I have noticed some folks saying they had to pay for title and license in addition to their Shield. Just curious, what states require those fees and how much are they?
Here in Minnesota you need to apply for a permit to purchase pistols and AR style firearms. It's free from your local law enforcement manicapality and takes about 5 business days to process. It is good for one year and you can buy multiple firearms with the permit.
We also have the position of taking a CCW class and obtaining a CC permit. The permit alone costs $100 but it is good for 5years and allows you purchase pistols and AR weapons during that period. Renewals requie a refresher course and are only $75. Sorry to be off topic..just got me wondering.

Yep, I just saw that and they are now backordered.... The website even went down while I was ordering my 642 for $325. I had to call!
EDIT: They are swamped. I'm still on hold to see if the LE version has three mags.....

Let us know if they come with three mags. I ordered one from Bud's Police Supply last night, might have gotten the last one.
Web sight went down right after I finished my order. Thanks.

They must be just SLAMMED over there. I had a 25 minute wait on hold. The website crashed twice on me in half an hour.
Bud's CS said they come with just two magazines....

That's very generous of them, since dealer cost is $325. Figure $10 for shipping [should be more for shipping a pistol].How can they stay in business selling guns at cost? GARY N4KVE

Probably helps that they sell them for $449 on their regular site Gary. Maybe they get the MIL/LEO guns at a better price too. Don't know. I was just happy to get one. Hadn't checked anyplace in a few days as I'm in Seattle visiting daughter. Caught me by surprise when I saw them available on Buds MIL/LEO site and I jumped on one.

Sounds like I need to wait until my LEO dealer gets the Shield in stock. Looks to be over a $100 savings versus the LGS.

Adamson police supply just north of Denver is having their 1st annual Smith and Wesson days on aug 2nd and 3rd and they have the shield listed for $349. Says they have plenty on hand and only valid for those 2 days. If they sell out they will offer a raincheck but you must get the raincheck on one of those days. Trying to compete against Glock days.

I have been looking for one for the past month, calling and driving to stores (Academy and gun shops). Nothing. This afternoon, I go into the local sporting goods store and they tell me they are out of them. I was about to leave and started talking to a girl behind the counter and she told me they just got a 9mm Sheild in yesterday and it wasn't checked in yet. I took it home...OTD with a couple of boxes of ammo was just under $500. For $50 more than Academy's price, I was happy and didn't have to drive 1-2 hours to get it.

Well, I just walked out of my LGS after paying $479 plus tax and fees. I'm in California so that explains the inflated price and also it just made our roster!
Can't wait to pick it up in ten days.

I stopped by Gander Mtn a few hours ago. The pistol area was packed. They had one MP Shield in .40 and the customer wanted a .9mm (it was for his wife). Price was 449.00. I then stopped by a local gun dealer......no Shields available. Since I just bought a MP 40 two weeks ago, I will wait a while until I get a .40 cal Shield. Definitely will be my next pistol. Possible 3rd would be a .380 Bodyguard (ankle-carry).

Local LGS has 'em stacked three deep and waist high behind the counter for $449, but they don't seem to be selling very quickly. Interesting to see if the price holds up at $449. I'll wait for the LEO dealer to get stocked to save $$.

Hey Hoghunter-where are you at that your LGS has a good stock? I'm in Colorado and you can't get them out here so I'm thinking of doing a transfer.

Who were the organizers?? Florida Gun Shows or Southern Classic?
I live in Orlando and FGS is coming here in two weeks. I'm wondering if I should wait or just pick one up at my LGS for 449 + tax. Thoughts?
