Default Shield brief range report

Picked up my Shield on Sat, had a quick 20 min range session over lunch hour today. Ran 3 different brands FMJ total 100 rnds through it, no FTF or FTE. Accurate to POA but only fired at 20 ft distance. Trigger very nice IMO, smooth enough and light enough for me, would say it feels like the 6.5 lb claim. Very manageable recoil. So far, so good, no regrets over purchase at all and believe me I was pretty apprehensive about purchasing a new model/first run gun.

Side note re: safety----mine has a very positive on/off click and seems easier to disengage than engage. Can't imagine accidentally engaging in safe position and being unaware but also realize anything is possible. Have seen and heard comments that presence of safety and it not being ambidextrous is a deal breaker for some. There is a post in this sub-forum about removing safety and installing S&W plug. Might be an option to consider for those who just can't live with the safety.

Plan another range session tomorrow if time permits, will try to follow-up with another post.

Default new shield here, too

Haven't had chance to get to local range yet, but plan to this week. Only problem I have had so far is "field-strip and reassembly"! Been working on that and have found it to be a real PIA. Must be doing something wrong. Shouldn't take 45 minutes to "field-strip and reassemble" any pistol. Guess am just getting "old" and having senior moments. Currently I have a "blocked plug-in" on my Apple computer so the "you-tube"- "how to" videos are unavailable to me. Love the feel of the little Shield though.

Did you get a manual with your Shield? It is actually pretty simple field strip. I am sure the manual is available online @ the Smith site

Default take down/reassembly

Have it figured out now. Can do with my eyes closed in about 2 minutes. Actually find it easier to field strip than my Glocks which I have used since early 1980's.

Olman,

Dont feel bad, the 1st time or two I took the shield down it seemed like a pain, but I got the hang of it also on the 3rd run, piece of cake now
