Default Pro CORE Ported 5" ftf and fte

Went out and shot her for the first time today. Every few rounds were either ftf or fte. At most i could get thru 6 to 8 rounds before a failure. Ammo was a mix of Freedom munitions 115 gr reman and LAX 115 gr reman. I used the two factory supplied mags too. My Dad has one also and had problems with the LAX ammo. My XDm feeds all this same ammo with no issue.

When i got home i stripped and cleaned her. I checked the feed ramp and it felt rough and almost like it had a "lip" at the very beginning of the ramp. I could just feel it with my finger nail.

I got my dremel and some tooth paste and polished it on low speed. It actually feels smoother now.

I really believe its an ammo issue. My ejection pattern was from 12 to 6 and not consistent at all.

Should i try name brand 115 gr or would 124 or 147 be better?

Thanks

After polishing

Nope, just keep using cheap remanufactured ammo with mixtures of no-name brass. If your new high dollar gun is not up to the task, only then break down and use some decent ammo after it is well broken in or beyond repair. Think of all the money you might save! We live in Jesse Watters World, you know. Sorry for being so cynical...just had a bad day watching T. V. Regards,. Ed

Default Gun malfunctions

Jesse Watters is on Fox News, frequently on Bill O'Reilly. He goes around interviewing "regular folks", getting outrageous and laughable responses to simple questions...the same as other late night comedians. The humor is chilling as so many people appear who think we defeated China in WWII or France bombed us at Pearl Harbor. You get the idea. Funny, yes! Disheartening, absolutely! Regards, Ed

I've had similar issues with mine but using reloads. I have been loading very light loads for quicker follow up shots but I think I'm going to go heavy and hope the extra gas through the ports makes up the difference. It also does not seem to like fast burning powders, I have less issues with slower burning.

Just got back from the range. With recently purchased Freedom munitions ammo it ran fantastic! Not a hiccup whatsoever! The minute I tried the LAX ammo it was jam city!

It appears that the LAX stuff has a longer OAL than the FM or some Hydro-shocks I have laying around.

Im REAL happy now! This pistol will put bullet on bullet, I love it!

Yep, you're going to need a different handload for the Ported as you will the non-ported M&P and will possibly need to switch powders.
The light loads I use in a 124 grain plated/jacketed which run perfectly in my non-ported M&P's don't even begin to run halfway reliably in my Ported.
I went from 231 and Tite-Group to Auto-Comp for now and solved the problem.
