M+P 9 Shield - M+P 9C
How do the triggers compare ? I know the M+P 9C is a tad wider on the grip, but would it be a huge deal ? My wife liked the trigger and the fit of the 9 Shield.I think I can get a bit more for the money on a M+P 9C. Thing is the shop didnt have a 9C to compare, side by side for her.The one thing she did not like on the Shield was rootin around for the safety. Thanks

When you check out the compact, make sure you put the small grip insert in if you (wife) like thinner grips. The safety may be a deal killer for me also. I have a 9c and will probably just keep it. I think they are to close in size to own both. Having said that, I own a full size and would buy a shield if I did not own a 9c. I would buy the 9c if I did not own the full size.

I bought a Shield this week and shot it yesterday. Only had time for one box of 115gr but it performed 100% and shot well. Only fired at plates and have not done paper testing yet. Trigger seems to be same as other M&P models and the safety is a non issue - just dont use it...

If I had to choose between the 2 I would go with the 9c. The only thing the Shield has over the 9c is it is thinner. My 9c conceals very easily, and my wife loves shooting it

I would let your wife pick the grip that is best between them. The Shield should have a 'better' trigger in that it has a more positive stop, crisper break, and shorter, more tactile reset. Internet buzz is the rest of the M&P line will have the upgraded triggers at some point in time.
have her pick the gun she likes the feel of best and don't worry about a couple of extra rounds of capacity. The last three or four rounds in the magazine are the LEAST important ones in the gun.

I know guys who run the full size, or/and long M&Ps but would not buy the compact (too short of grip) but are snapping up the Shield and love it.

If your wife likes the Shield, let her buy the Shield. You won't be doing her any favors by deciding for her what she wants.

Ill have to work at finding a 9c for her to compare.I can order a NIB 9c with night sights for the same price as the Shield 9.Money was never the issue.I just wanted to get an idea of peoples opinions of the grip size / triggers and take it from there. If the 9c is a football compared to the Shield ,well then its an easy choice. The pics of the 2 together seem close in size. Thanks

I have both and would have a tough time choosing one over the other. I like the Shield for the same reason I like the 3913: big enough and small enough at the same time. Maybe slight edge to the 9c for more versatility.

I also have both. The trigger is better on the Shield. The thinness and lighter weight of the Shield makes it easier to conceal IWB. I agree with the previous poster, the 9C has more versatility since you can use full size magazines and add a light/laser on the rail.

I gotta make some calls and do a road trip.Find a place that has both the Shield 9 + M+P9c.Cut her loose and let it fly.Its for her B-Day .I should do the right thing and buy both, and take the one she does not like .Having a wife that likes guns is worth a million $$$ . She even lets me shoot her AR-15..

That's either a hell of a deal on the 9c, or a ripoff on the Shield. MSRP on the Shield is $449,even LEO price on a 9c with night sights is $455. Are you getting LE price on the 9c?

I just got the Shield, and have been carrying an M&P9c for about two years. The trigger on my M&P9c is much better, but that's after about 1k rounds through it, and the M&P triggers improve with shooting substantially. My Shield does seem to have a gritty trigger, though.

I have both. Different guns for different purposes. I still will carry my M&P9c as an off-duty gun. I like the capacity of the compact vs. the Shield. My Shield will be a BUG carried on a vest while at work, and a deep concealment gun/low threat and feeling lazy gun when off work.
The compact isn't that compact, it's just a fs with a bit chopped off the slide and frame. Still the same thickness as the fs M&P.
The trigger of my Shield was a bit gritty at first. Dry fired it some. Shot 180 rds the first time out. I then hosed the frame in a parts washer, then I blew it dry with an air compressor. The trigger is now creep free.
If your wife likes the Shield, then buy it.

Maybe I've been shooting revolvers in double action too many years, as I have no issues with the trigger on my 9c. I like the trigger on my 9c better that my Glocks triggers. I like my 9c, and it will stay around for a while. The Shield, well I have to wait and see, as I have a Kahr that shoot pretty good, too.
Good Luck
