More good news .. getting my Shield completely accessorized. RCS Raven Concealment Systems now have modular holsters, Phantom and mag carriers available. Since got my order in quickly, I hope to have the holster and mag carrier very soon.

I put the tru glo tfo on my compact, mistake. The HD are in my eyes the very best sites you can put on a carry gun period. I like the tru glos but you cannot do a one handed rack like you can with the HDS. I also like the way the big dot in front sits in the u of the back site very fast and fast keeps you alive.

There are other modifications that can be done to an M&P for one handed slide manipulations. I have yet to have them done to either my Shield or 9c, but they're in my plans. As far as sights go, I have nothing special. My 9c has a step sight, and was hoping the shield would come that way too... but oh well. I can still press check one handed, and rack it one handed off my leg, or another object of opportunity.

Looks great. I wasn't sure how the rear sight would fit on the narrow frame.

That's why I posted this thread. To show that the Trijicon's will fit. I did a google search for the best prices and found a site that had them way cheaper than most. $138 including shipping.

Those look great! I have the TFOs being put on my shield right now. I have TFOs on most of my pistols, but I'll definitely check out these HD sights on my next gun.

Did you have to make any adjustments to the Trijicon sights for the shield?

Those Trijicons look great, but the price...dang! So, I'm going to try TFO's.

Look at it as an investment to protect your life and that of your loved ones .. not the dollar signs. Again, I googled for the best price and bought mine for $138 including shipping. Top quality is never cheap.

Kris,

Would you take a picture of the fit of the rear sight to the slide. The picture you have is a bit fuzzy. The sight seems to protrude. Its hard to discern how much.

Nevermind, I somehow missed one of the pictures.

To those who posted that these sites are to expensive. I good friend who is very much in the know about firearms told me once when talking about holsters " remember the cheap **** will get you killed." When thinking about this it became clear that this was true with every part and piece of self defense equipment, guns, sites, holster, ammo etc.

This needed to be reposted as it is really fantastic advice, and why I *invest* for the best that could save my live, or possibly that of a loved one. Thanks cracker57 !

Yellow and/or green is actually better or easier for your eyes to focus in the dark and also daylight.

I didn't think the ring glowed as well, I saw these on a XD and the tritium was very bright at night but the ring was not that noticeable. Could you post some pics with the lights off and the sights glowing?

Both pics taken in dark room and the camera flash off. Trust me when I say the dots glow brightly in the dark, and much better than what I could capture with the camera.

lol .. blame the camera, not the gun

Default Gotta love the forums..!

I just recently purchased a Shield as well, after reading all the "hype" an seeing some of the online reviews. I thought to myself , "how can you not get 1 these..?" I was really impressed w/ how well it shot right outta the box, w/ the short mag or the +1.. My 1st thought was "what are my sight options?" I really like the Trijicon HD's, and you have answered my question before I even asked it..! I should have my sights by the end of the week.! I went w/ the orange tho, just seems to "pop" better for my eyes.. Anyway, thanks for the post an the pics! An I'll have to agree, you can't put a price on the safety of your loved 1's..

Then why are you using a polymer gun instead of a high-end 1911?

Polymer guns, like Glock and the M&Ps have proven to be as if not more reliable. Keep in mind that ANY gun can fail. We know that you are kidding tho

You got me chuckling, while I did state the cheap **** will get you killed so will no gun. some of us do have a limit to the wallet. I am only saying get the best you can afford and don't skimp to save 25 bucks, unless that's all you think your life is worth. I will admit the guy who said "the cheap **** will get you killed" when talking about holsters and he talked me into ordering a milt sparks VM11 said it was the most comfortable holster he has ever worn and it handled his 1911 no problem all day long. He I believe has no bottom to his wallet.

My $40 N8 squared tactical holster is probably just as comfortable as any $70+ holster out there. Just because it's expensive doesn't automatically make it better.

~~Thanks for pics of the HD sights. I think I'll be getting some of those for my next M&P. I like the XS sights on my 9c though so those aren't going anywhere, but for everything else (including nightstand duty) I think those HD sights are perfect.

For home defense your "high end 1911" would probably be fine, but since I've been going to shooting competitions and seeing what everyone uses. I've seen more malfunctions with the 1911 platform than any polymer out there, just because you spent all the money on it doesn't mean it will perform flawlessly.. And this is just an observation an not to knock down the 1911 platform as I am a huge fan of them.. But I wouldn't get 1 for competition shooting..

I've seen more polymer guns have issues in the classes that I've taken and 1911's run flawlessly. There was on instance where the rear slide plate on a glock slide down just far enough to render the gun useless.

BTW, my Springfield Professional has been flawless

There is one factor that is more important than comfort .. * retention* You don't want your gun to fall out because the leather wore out, screws loosened, cheap plastic cracked with age. other parts broke. Ever see a you tube where the lock mechanism broke on a Serpa , or crud jamming, locking the gun in the holster? Now that would really suck when you needed your weapon for SD
Why I invest in Raven holsters. They come with a lifetime warranty that follows the holster (all of their products) There is nothing that can jam, and retention has held as good as day 1 with the holster that I have worn the past two years almost daily.

How far does the rear sight stick out over the slide? the pics posted were a bit fuzzy. If you want you can even just post the width of the rear sight with a caliper and let me know. I have the HD's on both of my glocks and would really like to get them ordered for the Shield. I just dont want them sticking out the sides too far!

Thanks

Tim

How does the point of impact compare vs. standard three dot sights? I find my shield's POI is right on the front sight dot (7-15yards) with 124gr American Eagle ammunition. I am looking to switch sights, but am curious if the trijicon keeps POI the same as standard sights.

Default Trijicon Sight Heights

I contacted Trijicon to get their sight heights. Here's their response:

Thank you for your interest of Trijicon products.  Model SA137O has the height of the front sight as 0.215 and have no width for the front. The rear height .219 and no width, however, the rear notch is 0.169” W x 0.151” H.  I hope this information helps.

Please post your factory sight heights?
