Default Got my own Shield now!

Went to buy a Kahr P9 this Sat - after renting it. On a whim, I rented their Shield. Hook, line and sinker. I had to have one...

Got me one today

All set to go now

NICE!!!

I don't need one, but i've been thinking of getting one.
I don't know why, but it must be the M&P goodness, good price and the small size, that makes me want one.

Thanks. I never even liked M&Ps before - I have shot a few and always hated the trigger. I gave this a shot and loved it. If and when they put this trigger on regular M&Ps, I can see myself buying a fullsize one...

Welcome to the collective. You probably couldn't have gone wrong with either one; the P9 or the Shield. They're both very sweet shooting pistols. My favorite edc has been a PM9 for the past ten years, but the Shield is slowly starting to force the Kahr to move over.

well there were reports that the M&P will be getting an updated trigger, so if the trigger on the Shield is any indication, then a new one for the others should be popping up.

I found the Shield to be a smoother shooter than the Kahr.

Now I need to see about 12 M&P semi-auto pistols, arranged in a circle with the muzzles pointed towards the center, on a light psychedelic purple background, accented by a PS90.

Would anyone happen to know the fully loaded weight of the M&P Shield? 9mm or 40SW, extra round or not, whichever you have.

S&W has said the full size models in 9mm and .40 should start shipping in May/June, with full production by end of summer. They 45 will follow, but they haven't announced expected availability dates yet. I will be picking up a 9mm FS once the new trigger is out.

ON a bathroom scale - the gun unloaded with no mag was 1.2 pounds. With the longer mag, fully loaded, it was 1.6 lbs. However, that's not a digital scale super accurate like a postal; scale. It's the only digital scale I have access to, however.

I did notice that my Kahr PM9 with the 6 round mag fully loaded is 1.2 pounds. So, the Kahr loaded weighs as much as the Shield unloaded - according to my scale.

You could look up the weight of a Shield on the S&W website. Then weigh 100 rounds of 9mm on your scale, divide that by 100 to get the weight of one round and then add how ever many rounds you expect to carry.

Weighing 100 rounds will greatly increase the accuracy of the reading from your scale. If you could weigh 1000 it would even be better.

Several months ago I used my wife's kitchen scale to weigh my pistols. Today I included the Shield to the list. Certainly not a calibrated scale, but the weights are close enough for me. The results are as follows. I threw in a bunch of others besides the Shield just for comparison purposes. All magazines were loaded and a round chambered with Speer GDHP.

Kahr PM9 - 19 oz. (6 round magazine with Pearce Grip)
M&P Shield - 24 oz. (7 round magazine)
M&P 9C - 30 oz. (12 round magazine)
M&P 40C - 31 oz. (10 round magazine)
M&P 45C - 34 oz. (8 round magazine with flat base)
Kimber Ultra CDP II - 31 oz. (7 round magazine)

Sorry - but I don't want to put that much time in it. I was just getting an idea of the weight difference between the two guns, because I could feel that the Shield was a tiny bit heavier in my pocket.

SInce it was asked by the guy above - I just threw that out there, as it was still on my mind
