A flashlight is the most useful thing to put on the gun. I really like the TLR-1.

As for the most non-useful, that award goes to the pistol bayonet.

Default rail accessory

TLR-1 is my choice also.

Before night sights even.

Light your target and the sights are easily lined up.

I use my FS9 for matches and home protection.

I have other choices, but I don't feel at a disadvantage with my M-P.

Good Luck

One thing to watch out for on the TLR series is that most of them come with a universal key (the lug that engages the slot in the rail). While this is close, it leaves play between the rail and key really requires quite a bit of effort on the tension screw to keep the light in place.

There is a 1913 key available from Streamlight for $7 or $8 that precisely fits the rail and eliminates the issue. Changes with one allen head bolt.

Between the LED light and the interchangable key, the TLR series is a really good tool.

My TLR-1 came with multiple keys. The one installed from the factory is for Glocks, but the 1913 key was also included for use with Picatinny rails and M&Ps.
