Hickok45 really puts the Shield through it's paces today.
Check it out guys. I don't think anyone here will be surprised if the S&W ownership community expands exponentially soon. Enjoy: M&P Shield ( Chapter 2) - YouTube

It would appear so. Watched it early this morning. Hitting small stuff at distance is nice to watch & that it can do it is just icing on the cake .

What surprises me most about Hickok is that he likes the small guns. He is a big guy, 6'8", with huge hands obviously. You would think he wouldn't care for small guns with his hands. Not the case though.

His comments get me thinking about getting my Shield in .40
Although, I'm not sure though. I've never even held a Shield yet. I've learned the hard way in the past about small CCW pistols and the potent .40 round. That's why I was so excited last year when I took a chance on the M&P40c. If we were only allowed to have one gun....that would be it for me. I found the Holy Grail... Awesome gun!
What do you think? A thin gun like the Shield really designed for the 9mm cartridge?

With the modern defense ammo of today, 9mm in a gun of that size works for me.

The grip on the Shield is easier for big guys than the compacts due to length, and easier with small hands because of the slim size.

For the poor among us, 9mm ammo is cheaper. That's why I am storing my .380 and carrying the 9mm. But I do like my Bersa Thunder.

Buds Guns has the M&P Shield40 but not the 9, if I had not had to fix the A/C on my vehicle which broke the main belt I would be ordering one right now, that is alright I can wait he want $449 and when they get to Academy Sports here they will be 399 plus tax and the $10.00 background check!

The wider thickness of the Shield v the LC9 is almost exactly the difference in diameter between 9mm and .40 cal. I don't know how significant that might be but you can safely wager that if S&W plans to offer the Shield in .40 cal, the requisite engineering has been done.

When I'm carrying 8 rounds of Federal HST 147gr. in a slim reliable package...I don't feel undergunned.

He owned and tested a Walther PPS that he seemed to like (he liked the trigger), but he traded it off after a while. I think the thinness wasn't as important to him as the round count in his beloved Glock 26/27. The PPS also wasn't as much of a pocket carry gun as his Kahr.
He's like a big kid sometimes.

The range to the gong target is 80 yards. He did a tongue in cheek video awhile back in which he responded to a person who had asked, "Hickock, how far away is the 80 yard gong?" to which he responded with deadpan expression, "Two hundred forty feet."

but still nonetheless a good man and certainly a nice alternative to the nutinfancy of the youtube world.
also it might be worth checking out sooch00 and the yankee marshal too as they usually have something good or interesting to say if you kind of get tired of the straight shooting vids which I think is what happened with hickok there for me.
as I really need to get to the range one of these days, havent done it for about a month so I guess I'm kind of in that state where I'm jelous of someone shooting one right now on there own personal yard range like he has, hence the burn out probably.

Now I'm not forgetting which forum i'm in but here's the truth. Hickok45 shot the PPS MUCH better than he shot the Shield.

There can be a multitude of reasons either way. Did you notice that he did not blame the gun (Shield) ?

Great video and great gun! I have had a 9c for may years now but when I saw the Shield I knew I wanted one before I touched it...once I held it I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough to buy it.
I love the ability of carrying a lighter gun when needed, great package from S&W, but what else is to be expected right!?
Also this being my first post, just thought I would say Hi to y'all!

Welcome to the forum!
As for Hickok45, he sucks! Anyone who is such a good shot, has a great range of his own to shoot on, and is obviously an all-around good guy ticks me off!
Obviously I am kidding...I really enjoy his videos. I like Sooch as well, and there are a number of others. I like The Armory Channel for his sense of humor and "unusual expressions" (not for children or viewing at work!)

well he is a big guy and maybe it just fit him better, it can just be that simple after all.
and I think the PPQ was a test and evaluation gun that he sent back after he was done although he has bought two of the T and E guns he got.

I tell you what...both he and Jeff Quinn should be receiving commission checks for the countless number of items I've acquired from their very straightforward reviews.
During the video, hickok45 continually knocks off soda cans perched at different locations on the range with very few misses. He is a quick study of everything new he's demo'd on his videos, and his ability to adapt his grip or his POA is amazing.
He did state that the gun he was test firing belonged to a viewer, and that he was probably going to pick up a Shield, but perhaps in the .40SW model.

I tell you what... S&W, Ruger, Glock, et. al. should be sending Hickok45, Jeff Quinn, and other popular Youtubers some checks rather than just T&E guns. They deserve it more than anyone.

Hickok45 and the Shield
Hickok45 is shooting my Shield in his videos. Also he compares ballistics between the Shield and a carbine in another video with a chronometer. I was reading your comments about Hickok so I registered to let all of you know he really is a down to earth nice guy who has a channel the entire family can watch without wondering if the children will hear something they shouldn't. He likes the Shield a lot, and that was my PPQ he was shooting and he also liked that pistol, especially the trigger, it's hard to beat the trigger on a PPQ. I'm loving the 9mm Shield, it's a good shooter and I believe the trigger is an improvement over the standard M and P trigger. The reset is definite, and the pull is smooth with a crisp break.

You can match the PPQ trigger on the SHIELD with minor modifications to the sear and striker block and polishing in the right places. I have both guns myself.

Hickok45 likes the Talon Grips. Derick at Talon grips offers the more aggressive sandpaper textured grip, which is what Hickok is shooting on the Shield, but Talon grips also offers a nice rubber type grip that is thin and fits the Shield as well as the other. They run about $15.00 from Talon Grips. Check at TalonGunGrips.com.

I read an article that said he makes "good" money doing those videos because he has so many members....
