I ordered a Galco King Tuk today... am excited and hope the absolutely vastly favorable and glowing reviews are all right. I have owned two lesser Galco holsters and I have always thought they were high quality while very reasonable and value priced.

Not for nothing, but in truth, I considered and perhaps wanted to order another Alien Gear but the wait and the people. LSS, I ordered a holster that then sent me an email telling me they were charging my card, and there would be a 4-6 wk wait. Nowhere on the site or during the order process did they mention a wait, let alone the nearly 8 it took, and they avoid communications and give the run around. So while I do like the Cloak Tuck IWB for my G23 and might have tried the 2.0 Neoprene version for the Shield, after the fees and shipping their product would be nearly 50 bucks. I paid 50 for my King Tuk today and I'll get it ASAP, with full leather, Kydex, and metal clips included etc.

I am very much looking forward to carrying the Shield PROPERLY IWB with a proper holster, especially as it cools off and fall brings pants etc, perhaps more clothing for even more concealability.

I often use a hybrid dual clip, but I carry bigger/wider/heaver pieces and like the stability they offer, especially for long 10-16 hour days of carry.

For something the size, weight and very thin width of a shield in a strong side IWB carry, to me it seems to lend itself towards a fairly deep riding, 20 (maybe a touch more depending on your preferences) degree cant, all kydex holster with a single over the belt type of clip. If you plan to tuck in your shirt, you may need to find one made with a j-hook or c-hook type of connection.

This type of holster does not add much to the width or weight and does not absorb sweat. If sweat goes over the top, you should be able to rinse it off and wipe it down (and wipe/oil the gun, too). It's also an easy holster to put on and take off.

I have to add my approval of the N8 holsters. as you can see, I have one for a Ruger LC380 and used it for about a year. I wanted the Pro for my shield but they don't make one to take the Laser so I went with the standard.
As far as Quick draw is , I am not planning on any gun fights and by sliding my thumb alongside the grip as I reach, seems to work fast enough for me.
BTW My new one shipped the same day I ordered it and I had it is 3 days GREAT SERVICE for a Great holster!
I'll add that the LC380 is in a touchable!

I have a black, right-hand DeSantis Cozy Partner IWB holster I used once - not even broken-in. Decided IWB holsters are not for me.

Cozy Partner Holsters, Springfield XD Holster, Hand Gun Holster, DeSantisHolster.com

$40 shipped if you want it.

I recommend Concealment Solutions Black Mamba CE. Very comfortable holster. Jason, owner of the company, is a great guy to deal with. If IWB is not your taste, he offers OWB and appendix carry holsters. One great thing, at least for me, is quick process. I ordered few holsters from him, and I would have them within the week (many times bought a gun on Sunday and by Friday holster was in my mailbox). And he makes holsters to order. Strongly recommended.

Default Carry Beginner

I have read and viewed many reviews of holsters for the M&P shield. I have tried a few and have some on the way( remora clipless and PJ kydex in shipment). My favorite so far that i havent actually tried is the Desantis Sof-tuck holster. I got in mail and it fit my shield like a glove and it feels so good i almost forget i am wearing it even as a beginner to carry. I was reading it could have problem with one handed reholster and i can say i have yet to have a problem with it. My first few practices drawing and re-holstering went so smoothly with this holster i felt like i have been doing it for years.recommend 100% give it a try.

I've been carrying appendix on duty for about 13 years. I used to use the Garrett industries silent thunder(excellent holster), but the past year or so I've switched to the incog for all my carry guns. If appendix isn't your thing, the silent thunder is my recommendation

If you carry appendix, give G-Code Incog or Phlster Access/Skeleton a shot. I have both and use them regularly. A thorough comparison of the two here. I've previously tried Alien Gear before I decided I much prefer appendix carry. Alien Gear is a good deal for its price.
Between the Incog and Phlster, it was basically options & belt clip (Incog) vs. simplicity & belt-loop (Phlster). Both are comfortable (no sharp edges), accessible (adjustable for full grip), and safe (retention and trigger guard protection).

I put my incogs through their paces. I've gotten into fights on the ground while working multiple times, and my glock 27 or 23 has never fallen out. The holster is crazy durable. I actually just ordered the incog eclipse this morning. No need for the mag caddy

The best I have found.....

Carry style: Appendix
Holster: FoxX IWB
Note: This is FoxX small of the back holster. Was chosen because the shell is straight up and down which is what I want for appendix carry. Now if you carry appendix and are right handed you have to choose the left hand draw small of the back and vise versa for left handed shooters.

Also this holster works at 2, 3, 4, or 5:00 o'clock as well if you want a no can't holster.

Notice just how well this holster carries the weapon close to the body. IMO it's just perfect for concealed carry purposes.

I love my PJ Holster, worn at 4:00. Mine has a custom 20 degree cant to it. The holster is so thin, it's just like stuffing the gun into your waistband. They're simple: no screw-on clips that add thickness...just one piece of Kydex. PJ Holsters also have a retention adjustment screw, which is a must for Kydex holsters in my humble opinion. They come with a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser.

Concealment Solutions Black Mamba Combat edition. I like this a lot better than the Alien Cloak Tuck I bought for my XDs, because it is easy to reholster, where the Alien collapses. Its also very comfortable, but a lot of that is attributed to the Shield's size and non aggressive curves and textures.

Looking for a Single Clip? I MUST get me one of these for my Shield and my XDs. Somebody posted a photo of one made for his XDs from Insane Kydex Creations, on the Defensive Carry Forum, and wow! does it look nice - and generating lots of positive feedback.

Love my new Holster

I just tested a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster as an IWB at 4:00 position. No undershirt, just my shorts with belt and skin with tshirt (my normal clothing). I did a series of draws, including walking around the store a bit and drawing, and reholstering. The holster never budged and top never collapsed to make reholstering difficult. It retained the level and cant I set it at. What I like is that you can adjust both at any time without messing with clips. I'm no expert, but for the limited times I'm away from home and carrying this seems a good option.

Okay, I hereby resurrect this thread-- I have a pair of Shields coming, a 9mm with the "night" sights (might just be white dots, hard to tell across the 'net, but they'll do) and one of the Performance Center .40s with the ported barrel and the fiber-optic sights-- I remember the 1911s with the Schuemann top-ported barrels, and am eagerly waiting to touch this particular firework off. Also it's the first .40 I've owned, so there's that-- another caliber to feed. I expect my wife to declare joinder with the 9mm in short order, so have been looking for iwb rides for them, and look who popped up in the Google search! I really like the JP like hokiefyd's, I definitely think less is more with these little things, but I have to admit I haven't cared much for Kydex-- too stiff, I like a holster that moves with me, but of course always willing to learn. I really like the High Noon Alter Ego on the first page of this thread-- very reminiscent of an ancient little clip-type belly pouch by Bianchi that my J Frame rides in now-- very comfortable.

So we're open for business again, show me what's happening in the world of light IWB's for these pistols these days, if you'd be so good, or just show me your rides and tell me how you like them--

I use the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 for my Shield 9 (with Crimson Trace Laser). I absolutely love it--nice and comfortable. I have no problem reholstering with it. I liked it so much, I ordered another one for my Colt .45 M1911 full-size pistol. The M1911 being a heavy pistol, I wanted comfort and the AG holster does a great job of not only concealing, but distributing the weight--adding comfort.
