40 Cal Shield
I have searched and can't find much about the 40 cal Shield. Every post talks about the 9mm and I was wondering if the gun was to small to shot the 40 cal very well or that no one with a 40 is posting any results.

I am very interested as well. I really prefer a .40 but have heard the 9mm is the way to go with the Shields just because of the recoil. I've also heard that regular full size M&P will be getting the shield trigger?

Have you looked in the M&P pistol section? There are lots of posts about Shields in 9mm & in 40.

The 9mm is probably more common but I have seen a lot of post about the .40. My wife and I shot it, she was considering one, we found our second time shooting it not quite so good. We probably need to put more rounds through it though. Especially, after shooting my M&P FS .40.

I just got my Shield 40 on saturday. I have been carrying my 40c since i got in in february and the shield is definitely snappy compared to the 40c and is going to take some practice to get better control of. My 40c has the same trigger as my shield out of the box so you heard correctly.

If you're accustomed to shooting .40 S&W the recoil should be no issue. I don't find it any different than shooting a compact .40 S&W like the M&P40c or G27 (both of those have been replaced by my .40 Shield).

I have the .40 Shield and love it. Yes it has a little snap to it but as long as your grip is good its not bad at all. I think my Glock 22 has more snap than my shield though. I can also attest that I am more accurate with the .40 Shield with the flush magazine than with my FS M&P 9mm. I shot a friends 9mm shield and prefer the .40.

IMHO, the recoil on the 40 Shield is a non-issue. Have one and absolutely love it. I've been shooing the 40 round for years and notice little difference.
Highly recommend the 40 Shield!

I have both a 9mm FS M&P and a 40 Shield. To be honest I find the shield just a tad bit snappier -- but for a 40 cal, it is a pussy cat. As for accuracy, my groupings at 7 yards are the same. I love this Shield, especially since I did an Apex trigger mod to reduce the trigger pull down to around 5.5. It is as smooth as sh** through a goose.
Don't leave home without it!

My Block had more recoil than my .40 Shield. The dual recoil spring on the Shield made it one very nice (4) to shoot. I dont think s&w could have done any better. Hands down, its the calmest .40 i've ever put my hands on. And beings its in such a small frame, "calm" is an understatement.

This will be my next mod to my shield. Heard nothing but good things about it. I have the Apex kit in my FS 9mm and absolutely love it. Made it a new gun!

I have two 40 Shields, one with stock sights the other with Big Dots. I also have a full-size M&P 40. Compared to the full-size the Shield's have a little more snap so my grip's slightly tighter but other than that they shoot about the same as their big brother. Because I've got bigger hands I use the 7 round mags.
As for accuracy, the Shields are every bit as accurate at the same distances as the full-size all the way up to 50 yards.
I'd highly recommend the Shields especially in .40 caliber if you can find one that is.

I purchased two about a month ago, recoil is a non issue with me because I shoot hot 45 Colt loads. I was concerned that my wife would think its a little snappy so I purchased low recoil defense loads for her to try as well as some Winchester 165's, she could not tell the difference and said it was not bad at all.

I love my 40 Shield
The recoil is much less than other 40s I have shot

You must have eagle eyes and surgeon hands if you are shooting a Shield at 50 yards!

Yeah, I spend a fair amount of time at the range and training so I can hold my own. It's also my concealed carry so I practice with it once a week and put maybe 100+ rounds through it each time. The indoor range is out to 25 yards. The outdoor range stretches it (and me) to 50 yards.
