Default Stippling

Here is my M&P45. It was my first, and only, attempt. It took forever as I was being careful and slow also lots of Advil from eye strain headaches. For straight lines I used some blue masking tape, taped it off and just followed the line staying as close as possible to the tape. I'm not sure Im finished yet. I did the bottom of the trigger guard and tapered it off as it rounded towards the top but the more I shoot it the more I think I want the whole trigger guard stippled. I learned one thing. Im never doing this again, at least not this much. Not enough patience and to much of a headache...literally

I wore head gear eye magnifiers for better detail and less eye strain. This was my first attempt at stippling and I will continue other projects.

Kris, I find a lot of stippling jobs look horrible and scare me. Your Shield looks like it came stock that way. Very nice.

I will say that the M&P's lend themselves better to stippling than Glocks do. What really creeps me out are the guys who make the little lines instead of the dots. Looks like nasty thick beard hairs or something.

OP, yours isn't bad, either. I would not have done the finger pad, tho.

Thanks. I used a 16.5 Watt burner. The head gear allowed me to really see finer detail. The plastic beards happens from not allowing the burner to get hot enough before starting and a very fine point. Maybe some guys are tilting their tool causing the drag instead of a point.

This is a soldering iron 30 Watt. I have not used this, but there are a few tips that I like that can be used on the cooler iron.

I would not have attempted the stippling without this ..

I just borrowed a soldering gun from work.

I guess those glasses would have helped.

I did the whole thing like that including the finger rests because i wasnt sure where i was going with this. Started at the bottom and just kinda kept adding to it

It needs more than a shave, more like a make-over .. lol

Gives a new meaning to the definition of *Black Ugly Gun*

Your guns, as long as you guys like it. Don't care for it at all myself, & would ruin any resale value to someone like me. Can't see the point of spending that much time & labor to make the gun worthless to a good portion of resale buyers. Just sayin'..........

This is not my gun, but after shooting it with the extreme grip reduction and the stippling, I would buy it in a heart beat ! And the guys who got to shoot it that day would agree. The reduction and the stippling enhanced the ability to shoot it better and to achieve accuracy.

The serrations are for easier gripping for racking, and one handed racking if necessary.
