Favorite 9mm Target Ammo for Shield?
What is your favorite cheap target ammo for the Shield 9mm?
A local box store has Tula 9mm for $9.99 box, Speer Lawman 115gr and 124gr for $12.99, CCI Blazer 115gr for $12.99 and Independence 115 gr for $12.99, Fiocchi 115gr for $12.99. All boxes of 50 rounds. A couple of these brands are the steel casings and not the the brass.
These were the cheapest boxes that I've seen for practice. Any of you shot these? Recommend one box over another, or one to stay away from at all cost? Looking to buy for practice to shoot out of my Shield 9mm whenever it comes in.
The Remington UMC 115gr and Winchester 115gr was around $13.99 or $14.99 box of 50.
Appreciate the feedback.

The cheapest I see around me is Federal Champion 115g for $11.97 at Wally world. Seems to shoot pretty well; I have no complaints.

Agree with Tommato - I use Fed Champion as it is cheap and shoots clean and accurate (for me at least) and is easy to get. I have several ammo cans loaded with the stuff
I would pick up a box of anything and shoot it once to see how it worked and if it works good enough, stock up on it. Just my .02

I haven't even checked Wally-World yet, but thanks for the tip. Are the Federal steel or brass? Any of you ever shot the steel casings?

Federal Champion 115g for $11.97 at Wally world is my favorite. They are brass. A lot of indoor ranges will not allow steel casing. Stick to brass.

Brass.
I used to get them in the 50 rd boxes for 11.97 but for 19.97 (if you can find them) they offer the 100rd boxes. Its all I stock up on. I just got lucky at my local wally world yesterday. They got several bricks in and I took them off their hands

I'm going to check this weekend for the 100 round box for $20.00. That's a good price. I'm sure they are hard to find, as until lately it was very hard to find the 500 or 525 round boxes of .22LR for less than $20.00; they were always out of stock. But lately I've seen Academy and one of the Wally-Worlds begin to have more of the big .22LR boxes in stock. Sometimes you have to stock up when you can. Again, thanks for that info.

@ Tennisguy - No problem. I hope you find it. I call around and usually get lucky but a few stores around my parts get it more regularly but it sure is a good deal. The 500 rds of 22 is always in stock around here. I see it and think "why do I not have the M&P .22" and my wife shakes her head.

I have a Ruger 10/22 that was my papa's, so that's what I use the .22LR for. I'd like to find a good, but hopefully inexpensive, .22LR pistol one day. But I think I will stick with my long guns from my papa and my new Shield (whenever it comes).

I have a Ruger SR22 pistol and the wife and I love it. You should be able to pick one up for around $300 if your LGS ever gets one. You have to check in often as they only stay in the case for a day.

Another vote for Wal*Mart Federal... 100 round Value Packs, when they have it. Others I know like Winchester Value Packs (aka WWB), also available at Wal*Mart. While Some of my pistols don't like WWB, ALL of my pistols like Federal... so I haven't even tried WWB in the Shield yet.
Looking at one problem box of WWB a Year or so ago, I found that the rounds weren't uniform in OAL, which could cause feed problems in some pistols. I also saw that while the shoulders of some of the case rims were squared off, some shoulders were rounded. I believe that lack of uniformity might be why some of my pistols experience FTX with the WWB 100 round Value-Packs... The 50 round White box rounds did seem much more uniform.

Went to check out the Federal 100 round value pack and they only had 1 box for $19.97 so I got it. Will definitely be on the lookout for these. Thanks. Now I have to be on the lookout for a good defensive round.

@ Tennis - glad you snagged that one. As for defensive rounds I use Speer GD 124gr +P that I get online in boxes of 50 rds for sometimes less than what my local gun shop charges for 20 rds.
suggest self defense ammo for 9mm Shield please

Shield 9mm ammo
May not be the best decision to go with the cheapest ammo. Stick with major brands, look for sales. Otherwise you can mess up your firearm. Not worth saving a few bucks.

The best deal on 9mm for me has been wally world. Look for the federal 100 round value pack. It's $19.99 in a maroon box. That comes out to $2 cheaper per 50 than the regular 50 round federal box that cost $11.97

Was able to grab one box of WWB 9mm 100 rds at Wally World last week haven't tried it in along time, but it was cheap enough so I got it.

Hornady Critical Defense & Duty
Have any of you used the Hornady Critical Defense or Duty in 9mm? Hornady said the Critical Duty was best used for barrels longer than the M&P Shield but it could be used but performance wouldn't be as advertised.

I get a discount at Wally. 10% off. So I only paid 9.51 out the door yesterday for some Tulammo. It ate it just fine. I may buy it again... i may not. For like a buck more I can get feds. I was staying pretty regular with Win white box but kind of like the feds better. I just haven't been able to find a 100 round box yet. In Michigan they are "Warehouse out" at Walmart. I've looked in about 6 different ones (just in case) and none have them.

I prefer Fed Champion, but Wally world is usually out (they're charging $23 or $24 for WWB in 100rd box). The Champion stuff seems more consistent than WWB.

The 100 rd box is hit and miss and every walmart in my area does not order it, "it just comes in". The family and I have a system so we can stock up. I just picked up a very large shipment two nights ago luckily. I miss the days where I could walk in and get 5 or 6 boxes and it always seemed to be in stock. Now when I see it I buy it all!
Sadly, its become a little bit of an obsession of mine to stock up. No amount is enough

100 Round Value Packs
Is there an "AA" support group for ammo? You know, "Ammo Anonomous".
I went to 2 Wally Worlds today and found nothing. Went to a 3rd one that I pass by on the way home, and they had 2 boxes. Had to wait as a guy was getting a key made and in the meantime someone jumped ahead of me and got one of the boxes so I got the last one. Came home and went to local store to pickup some things and they had 2 boxes and I picked up those 2 boxes. So ended up with 3 boxes today. They seem like the holy grail of practice ammo, so I figure if I buy too much I wouldn't have a hard time getting my money back selling to a friend or someone at range.
So a total of 4 boxes is enough for me (you have to exercise some control at some point). No more buying until I shoot what I have. I have a friend who'll go shoot with me and he'll likely give me the money for a couple of boxes so while I feel bad for buying so much it should even out later.
Several weeks ago at Wally World, I heard a guy say he had enough .22LR ammo to take on the entire army. I'm pretty sure he wasn't kidding either.
