I believe he said, before the thread was closed that "the triggers sucked and felt to him to be about 12 lbs on those two pistols"
S&W website says the trigger pull is at 6.5 lbs give or take O.o

My 9mm Shield came with a 6.5lb trigger. I checked with a non-digital trigger scale.
With the new trigger, its now set at 5.5lbs.

Correct. While I don't have the equipment to measure trigger pull, these 2 guns had a real heavy trigger compared to the other Shields that passed through our store. Even alot heavier than a few M&P 9's in the store. GARY N4KVE

My trigger on the Shield as received measures 7 1/2 to 8 lbs with an electronic digital gage.
I'll put an APEX kit to it shortly after deciding what sights to change to.

If I got a Shield from the factory with 7-1/2 to 8 lbs, I would send it back to the factory for service to get it within specifications. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect correction. If I wanted less than 6.5 lbs, I would do the Apex DCAEK thing or just shoot until it loosened up which may or may nor happen.

ccpacker,
I could deal with it, the 7 1/2 - 8lb, myself but the APEX kit is just quicker to do and probably nicer. To me it's not a real problem, I have about 500 rounds through it and NO PROBLEMS.

Of course, that's a personal choice. I, too, would like the Apex kit, but that is adding cost to the gun. The warranty should cover any out of spec anomaly including stronger than expected trigger pull.

My stock Shield had 6.5 pound pull. Now with Apex sear and block the pull is 4.25 pounds. Check the before and after results video at:
