I agree. All my M&P's have stock triggers and all shoot just as good if not better than my friends and their added mods.

I get tired of hearing about the M&P Shield, 9c, full size or whatever trigger deficiencies. If Jesus Christ made the trigger himself someone would want a trigger kit for it. Sheeesh!

7.5 -- Gentlemen, there are clearly many "dumping" on an exceptionally well-crafted pistol to be able to counterbalance the many great reviews by owners and shooters who have been overwhelmingly positive in their response.

I ended up giving a 9. After cleaning striker tube and running 150 rounds of factory ammo, it was flawless. The only thing that kept me from giving a 10 was that the mag release sticks out just a little more than I am used to and is pretty sensitive. My solution was to put a little piece of grip about a half inch above the release to help me keep my thumb higher above the release and avoid an accidental mag release while shooting.

Crazy if you look at all the other brand ratings though. Seems like Smith products all have good scores.

I was looking at the 9c before this one and also a Ruger LCP but for a small 9mm this one was the winner. It has such a slimmer frame than the 9c, not just handle but also in slide. Fired, both brand new, my PPQ 40 4" & Shield 40 at the Range yesterday. Talk about the Good, the Bad, ... Ugly (sold my Glock). The trigger is awful on my Shield, awful. BTW, I shot accurate tight groups with my PPQ. Also, w/ext mag on Shield after almost every fired round the mag would release. Alibi, I'll admit most likely operator error since I had no unintentional mag release w/flush mag. Possibly, I need to bend shooting hand thumb 90'. A few times no prob w/ext release mag when I used 90' thumb bend.
Nonetheless, I've owned other handguns w/stock lighter pull & never an AD, as feared above. Maybe my Shield needs a longer break-in period than my PPQ? For CCW love my Shield.

Learn to shoot??? I have no trigger "pull" complaints w/my Walthers (PPQ & PPS), XD, or PF9. LOL, I cheat with my revolver by cocking the hammer back, then aim & shoot. Anyway, I dislike the trigger pull on my Shield. Of course, the more I use my Shield, the more accustomed I'll become w/same.
IMHO, the issue is "learning" to shoot my M&P Shield 40... rather than learning how to shoot, period. BTW, I have several criteria when owning a particular handgun. "Trigger Pull" is not the only characteristic that causes a dislike or visa versa.
Again, love my new Shield for EDC/CCW. It will just take a little bit of [quality] time ...

LOL.. Well life's been a bit nuts the last month & a half, but if all goes well the wife & I are going to the range Wed. Still I like it, it fits my hand really well & love the balance feel, & looks. I'm sure I'll enjoy shooting it. Fingers crossed  .

I like my 9mm a lot. Nothing is perfect but this gun is as the best I have handled in this caliber. I give it a 9 as I believe, while it is not perfect, it is a accurate, reliable and affordable carry gun.

I am extremely satisfied with my Shield. For every reason that I purchased it, this is bar none, the best individual pistol I have owned.

There was a puff piece about the Shield in the latest American Rifleman. I haven't seen a real one yet, let alone fired one. But it looks good.
Even Jesus Christ couldn't please everyone, so why should S&W be expected to?

I have two Shields, both the 9mm and the 40 caliber. I have fired over 500 rounds out of each firearm. I have never had a misfire, stove pipe, problem feeding, or any other mechanical problem with either firearm. They both are sweet shooters, with sight acquisition superb after each shot. This gun is very concealable, and Carries like an air weight; you don't know it's there. I use a Fobus paddle holster for each. The trigger pull is no problem, and hardly noticed. I am thoroughly pleased with the Shield

I'm not sure why I should care about the positive/negative votes cast for a gun I own on some web page...
I'll make my own judgement on how a gun works for me and fits into my requirements.
...and apparently I need a Hi Point.

Please get the .40 magazine problem corrected and I will vote it a solid 10. I just got mine on 070812 and out of the 150 rounds fired through it have had at least five times the magazine has boffed on me. The seven rounder the most but also the six rounder. geee

And there are all kinds of trigger modifications for the Glock, and 1911's. I look at it like this .. if it is possible to take a good trigger and make it better/great .. why not?

This might not be an appropriate post because I don't have a Shield but my best friend does and I've shot hundreds of rounds helping him break it in. Based on that I'd sure give the Shield an 8+ or 9. I was waiting for a Shield when my local gun shop (an official LEO Smith & Glock dealer) called and said they still didn't have my Shield but I needed to get to the store and look at the new Bersa BP9cc (their first Polymer frame gun) and feel the trigger. It went home with me five minutes later. I'd give it a full 10.

I like my Shield,but can't hit a dang thing with it! Low left all the time. I have shot 22 revolver,.380 Bodyguard,and 1911 and had no problems. Why can't I shoot this thing..lol

Had my Shield 9mm for a couple of weeks.
Been to the range 2x.
Shot a total of 400 rounds.
I like it a lot. No issues with FTF or FTE firing Federal 115gr. FMJ and WWB 115gr. FMJ.
As far as hand fit...I am 6'5' 235 lbs and can palm a basketball.
The Shield fits my hand just fine...even with the 7round mag.
The 8 rounder is all the better.
Try it you'll like it.
Mine is accurate (out of the box) at 4yds, 7yds, 10 yds and 15 yds. (It is more accurate than I am.)
I believe in the adage: Aim small, miss small.I practice with paper silhouette targets and use
Birchwood Casey SHOOT-N-C "sticky" targets pasted all over the silhouette. Not the 8" or 6" bull’s-eyes but the 3" size.
I figure if I practice hitting a 3" circle...even if I miss a little...the zombie won't really care... Aim small, miss small.
