Default New 5" Barrel for my preformance center 9mm

I bought a performance center 9mm with the ported barrel. Now I'm considering shooting PPC for the first time. Found out that you cant use a ported barrel, So I need to get another. Looking for sugestions. also not sure why you can't use a ported barrel when I see some of the guns used in PPC. The one's that have the big weighted barrels and such...

I know in IDPA you can't as they seam to think a person wouldn't use a ported barrel or a comp for SD as that is the focus of IDPA. I don't like the rule as it also covers no optics and as a old fart with old eyes I have a red dot on a couple of my carry guns. Now we have ported Shields. IPSC has a division for these guns. Yes I know the rule in IDPA is prohibit gaming but that goes on anyway. Don

I have a Storm Lake barrel for my PC Ported for USPSA competition. I performs well enough and can be purchased at Midway and other locations.

They're rules, they don't have to make any sense.

(I use KKM barrels)

Thumbs up

I quickly bought a non-ported barrel for my 5" ported CORE. I tried S&W first and they "mentioned" Storm Lake had factory spec barrels. I bought the SL barrel from Midway. I now switch out the barrels depending on what game I'm shooting.

Another option is to purchase a Pro and have both it and the PC Ported. You can then make changes to the trigger and add an optic to the Ported. At that point you should be able to "mix and match" frames, slides and barrels to suit USPSA Production, Carry Optics, and Open as well as IDPA SSP and ESP. That is my current plan.

PC Ported is legal in USPSA Open (or Steel Challenge) with an optic and the stock PC trigger (or an FSS trigger).
PC Ported slide with the Pro frame and barrel and you are legal in USPSA Carry Optics.
Pro in stock configuration is USPSA Production and IDPA SSP legal.
PC Ported frame with stock PC trigger and Pro slide and barrel is legal for IDPA ESP.
