Default Apex Ram & DCAEK ???????

It is currently 108* in Columbia, SC @ 5:12pm....
unreal heat...feels like a blast furnace......

so I figure a good time to install some pieces and parts.

I am installing the RAM, I have sear block removed.

I also have the DCAEK....

I would like to go ahead and install the new sear and spring, while I have the sear block removed.

However......I do not have a sight pusher on hand at the moment (borrowing one from a friend next week) so I cannot install the new striker block.

my questions are ....:

can I go ahead and install the new sear and spring without installing the new striker block....???

and

what should I expect if I do this.....???

will the gun still run ok...?

or.......

should I hold off on installing the new sear and spring until I can install the new striker block....???

thank you kind folks...stay cool

I've installed just the Apex sear and polished the trigger bar with very good results without the changing the safety block plunger.

You can install the parts in any order or combination without any worries about proper function or safety. You will just not enjoy the full benefits until you have the whole package in. I delayed the sight removal on my pistol and didn't install the USB for a couple weeks -- no problems.

But, what a difference with DCAEK and RAM fully installed! Silky smooth action, about a 4 lb. pull ( using my stock trigger. spring), about 1/16 to 3/32" travel after striker release, and a positive reset.

I just finished installing the M&P Apex sear in my Shield and it works great.Reduced preceived trigger pull as well as a shortened and more pronounced reset.

thanks fella's......

I got impatient and just installed the ram. I'll do the sear this wkend. I plan to use the stock trigger spring, so even with my clumsy self, I should be done in about 30 mins or less..., and I'll do the usb next week.

I'm a little disappointed in the ram, I was thinking I would get more of a "click", similiar to a Glock. I also thought I would feel the reset more than I do. Maybe once everything is installed, it will be better.

anyway thanks again.....everyone have a happy and safe 4th.

Since the rear sight is held in place with a set screw it is not very hard to drift it out when the screw is loosened. I just used the plastic tool that came with the USB kit and a small mallet. I have also used a plastic drift punch that I got from Bronwells. It is just a cylindrical piece of HDPE plastic that will never mar anyting. No need for a sight tool.

Also, be careful when removing your sear block after you have installed the RAM. I thought I was, but I "launched" my RAM & spring while removing the sear block. The RAM was easy to find, but the spring is still MIA. Had to cut down a ballpoint pen spring until I can find a better substitute (Apex is helping). I hate to admit it, but if I can save someone else from the problem . . .
