Default Shield 9mm Issue

I recently got a 9mm Shield. I haven't had the time to get it to the range yet. I loaded up the magazines and the 7 round magazine it was too hard for me to load the 7th round by hand. I had to use a speed loader to get it in. And when I try to load the magazine you really have to push hard to get it to lock in.

Now, the 8 round magazine was easier to load and locks into the gun just fine with 8 rounds in it. It just seems like something might be wrong with the 7 round magazine? Any thoughts?

Leave your 7 rounds in the mag for a week. This will break-in the mag spring. You should be good after that.

I had the same challenge with loading and seating my 7 round magazine. It has gotten a little easier with time but it still requires some force to seat the magazine.

Wish I had an easier answer. Plus side the Shield is a shooter and you will get some hand exercise with the stiff magazine.

Same thing with my M&P compact. Not really an issue to worry about as it will get better.

I agree. It will get better. One of my sigma mags was like that a while back, onily i was a real problem. Both were 16r mags, and i noticed that after a few weeks, one of the mags was really not wanting to except the 16th round. Took it apart, and found that there was a little piece of plastic at the bottom of the mag. (Didnt brake off the follower or anything... just a piece of scrap or something from the factory) i'm sure yours is good thou. On another note, i should be getting my shield anytime now. Got on a few waiting lists, but looks like my cabelas is going to call me first. "Any day now..." they say. God im sick of waitin'!!!

I can't lock either mag in when fully loaded unless the slide is locked open. But it doesn't bother me.

Normal for new mags having tighter springs. Just leave the mag(s) one short for awhile. They'll come around.
