Default CS turnaround time? Weak ejection

I've been trying to solve an ejection issue with my FS 9 and after trying a few things (suggested here and by the armorer at the range) I called customer service. They were quick to send me a shipping label, but I'm a little unsure about sending it in. Has anyone recently sent a pistol in? If so how long was was it out of your hands? Should I keep trying to solve the problem on my own or let S&W take it from here?

It's been a while since I posted the issue but the ejected cases used to go over my right shoulder (about 45° angle) and land about 8-10 feet away. Now they come straight back and hit me in the face/forehead and much weaker (about 5k rounds through it). Tried several different ammo types (which also work great in my other guns), deep cleaned everything even taking off the extractor to clean anything under it, tried a new recoil spring (which was the only spare part I have). So if it was you - would you send it it? I bought it new so it has the original warranty.

You purchased it new, so let them fix it for free. Now the big question, is that your only gun? Will you be naked until it comes back from repair, or like most of us, do you have other guns to use/carry until it comes back from repair? But yes, you should let them fix it for free. GARY

Thanks for your thoughts Gary. I have several other pistols, my daily carry is a Shield 9 and I have a 40c and 22 as well, so I wont really miss the FS9 for a while.

I don't even know if I really understood my own apprehension until now but I guess it stems from living in CA. Being in a very restrictive state I've heard stories where the company wanted to replace a gun rather than repair it and because it is not on the state roster anymore they couldn't ship one with a different serial number because it couldn't go through the DROS. I can't imagine that would be the case here though so I'll probably send it in.
