Default Light / Light Laser combo recommendation?

I have a full-size M&P 9. I was looking at putting a light on it, I have also seen light laser combos, but primarily interested in the light first.

Any opinions on brand? Or anything that you like or dislike? Anything to look for or stay away from?

I'd like to stay middle of the road for pricing....from what I have seen, middle of the road is roughly $100-$150... Does that sound right?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!!

Spend a little more and get the best. Surefire x-300. They can be had in the $190 range last time I checked. If you're on a tight budget streamlight is the way to go in your price range.

Insight Tech makes good lights for a reasonable price.
I have an M6X LED laser/light combo

I have a Surefire TLR-2. It's performance is top notch. Two things I don't like about it:

1) It sticks out past the muzzle of the full size M&P making it a "bigger" weapon

2) The switch rotates two ways- spring loaded temporary, or the other way turns it on. Your trigger finger activates the light, so the spring loaded temporary position for the light/laser- when you go to pull the trigger the light/laser turns off. So you have need to flip the switch the other way where it is constantly on, or get an add-on switch that it activated with your gripping fingers.

My dad has a crimson trace set up for the M&P. Nice laser, makes grips fatter like the "large" backstrap does. You can't shoot without the laser because your grip turns it on.

I use the Crimson Trace LightGuard on my FS M&P9 in combination with the CT Lasergrips (LG-660). Both offer completely instinctive operation: slight pressure on the back of the grip actuates the laser, and pressure on the front gives you a very bright light to ID a possible target. While it's better to use a separate flashlight to avoid pointing a loaded weapon at a subject to illuminate it, the CT LightGuard is always there if you need it. Both have switches to manually turn them off if desired. What I especially like about the CT light is that it is very lightweight and fits on the rail like it is part of the gun, not like a bulky mini flashlight stuck on there. The LTG-760 LightGuard is currently selling for $114 at OpticsPlanet.com with free S&H. If you buy from crimsontracelaser.com (not the manufacturer) at $120, you get free batteries for life if you register with CT.

I put the TLR-4 on my wifes FS 9mm for about 125.00 works good for the price, light is bright and you can switch from light or laser to light and laser.
