M&P Shield has stuck round
This 9mm shield is my first gun. I reassembled it after taking it apart and cycled a round into the chamber and, after which I wasn’t able to cycle the round out. I think that I may have reassembled it wrong. After looking at it I noticed that there is a tiny gap between the slide and frame. I cannot rack it and I did notice also that the back of the slide is sticking out a slight bit aft of the frame and the recoil spring guide rod isn’t flush with front. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get that round out.
( by the way all i did was take the slide off)

Keep your finger away from trigger. Keep it pointed in safe direction. Drop the magazine. Now you are going to have to pull firm back on slide and wiggle it alittle. It should come free. You must not have had slide in both rail channels.

Thanks I'll try it tomorrow afternoon. I guess i'm being a panzy and not using enough force bc I'm a lil timid bc i live in a sub division and i didn't want it going off.. . I had it pointed at the ground trying to cycle it yesterday. I saw a technique on youtube tonight, to grab the slide and slam on the frame with your grip hand while pointed in safe direction. I imagine it will cycle right out after doing what you said. I can't wait to shoot it.

Just please be careful. Take your time and look at it real close. It's bound up more then likely and you'll wiggle it the right way and it'll come back. Post if you get it fixed!

is the spring guide rod to one side? is the slide disconnect/lever up where it should be, when you put the slide back on?

You Tube videos are your friend. Google the ones for Shield assemble & cleaning.
Might want to take it back to the dealer and have them show you how to disassemble, clean & lube and assemble.

Did you rack the slide after you reassembled to make sure everything was put back together correctly before you inserted the loaded magazine? Any particular reason why you're loading a firearm, your first firearm, in your house, instead of at a range?

Yea, I have shot with some cop friends, and plus I have to qualify for AF, so I felt comfortable loading it at the house. I decided to go ahead and load it bc I am heading to Atlanta this weekend and I did rack it before loading it, but hindsight I should've waited till was ready to put a few rounds thru it since I need to do that neway.

I am assuming you mean the feed ramp. This part of a new gun needs particular attention when cleaning so as to allow the round to properly go into the chamber.
With all my new weapons and even used one that I buy on occasion I carefully use a brass brush and Hoppe's solvent first and a rag to clean this area due to residue from the finish on the rest of the barrel.
There is a procedure called fluff and buff for this particular part of your weapon, so with your post tonight I"m gonna breakdown my Shield40 and work a little more than I usually do to it even though I keep it in fairly good shape I did put about 40 rounds through it, glad you got the issue resolved, enjoy your new weapon!

I found that the gun has a touchy spring, if not totally put in correctly(looks correct but) it will not rack back correctly and not lock back. To remedy you need to get the spring out again and put back in and make sure it is totally in straight, it should then be ok. ALSO make sure that little wire inside is pushed down with a pen or something BEFORE you remove the slide (when slide is in locked back position and the little lever is pushed down on side of gun to allow slide to go forward and be taken off. I am having a heck of a time getting the slide locked back due to a VERY tight spring, others are not so tight but mine is so hoping putting in a bout 200 rounds will loosen up that baby. Also thinking of storing empty and having the slide in locked back position hoping to loosen up the spring. NOT so sure these are going to help but hoping!!!

They come gunked up with preservative grease, not lubricant. You should always field strip a new gun, clean it thoroughly, and lube as suggested in the owner's manual prior to shooting. It is common for firearms to have metal chips in them from manufacture.
